They had better not.

I collect a DB pension in December with a large tax free element.

It won't have any tax free element if the rumours are true about Labour's plans.
Labour says it won’t drop tax-free pension lump sum after radio mix-up

Oh he made a mistake, that’s ok, let’s not worry he’s new and all that. rolleyes

Bodes well really, soon there will be lots of ‘well we had it in mind to do that, but it’s not possible as those nasty Tories made such a hash…no choice, really sorry’

It’s actually depressing being able to predict the incoming st storm.

As opposed to those using the politics of fear and making up Labour's policies for them.
Try again, Labour themselves haven’t denied the tax rises and it’s what every Labour government does. By fear, if you mean fear of paying more…see what odds you get at the bookmakers wink
But how much does it really matter?

If I'm asked to pay an extra 5% of my total income in tax - it won't break me.

This thread is hilarious now. Some extravagant throwing the toys out of the pram at this point.

If it doesn't worry you where your tax is being spent, and how much you are paying...I guess it doesn't to you.

Also there's no need to wait to be asked. Voluntary additional paymentd can be made. Why wait?

Most people who are due to take some pension savings are not wealthy. Losing the 25% tax free lump sum will be a massive kick in the bks for your average labour voter.
Do they/we count as working people? If so, we're golden smile

Are you getting your rumours from Tory central command?
Spectator / IFS interview and SKS himself.

The Spectator / IFS interview suggested that another possibility was an upper limit of £100,000 on ISAs.

The tax free element on pensions has been vulnerable for many years. Anyone who doesn't have an exit strategy, just in case. is either not up to speed, or is just putting their head in the sand.

There's a vast difference between panicking and planning smile .

I'm preparing for ...

NI on ALL income, regardless of age.
Tax thresholds not changing, or even reducing.
ISAs tax advantages having an upper limit, or even being removed.
Premium Bond winnings beings taxed as income.
£5000 max untaxed interest being reduced, possibly to £0.
Tax free element on pensions being removed
Pensions to be funded from taxed income.

Prepare for the worst - hope for the best smile

Crikey Pingu, you're a very rare sort of chap if you're able to prepare for that scenario!

That's no different to when conservatives are elected .

Every party has policies but they all change them once in power.

It's just bouncing money around different accounts. If everything on the list happens, I may have to actually pay some tax.

Yeeeessss, let it all out, the politics of envy. God we hate success in the UK.
Ain’t that the truth. Underachievers being rewarded for underachieving

You do realise that the Tories reduced the maximum tax free cash from £450,000 to £250,000 at one point, don't you?

Think it is actually £268,275. In any case that sounds a bit much for "working households" who, let us not forget, do not have any savings per Starmer wink

It is, and you will note I did say 'at one point'.

This is the Rishi thread.
By constantly posting drivel about other party leaders you distract from the very interesting things Rishi has done/ is doing now.
