Seriously?

Glad they have IMO. Why the fk anyone who is a public figure thought they would even get away with it.

Monumental stupidity.

Is this a diversionary tactic? Attack the police and hope that some of the mud heading towards the Tories ends up sticking to the police?

Attack the police?

If this story is accurate, well done to the Met whistleblower, well done police, good work.

No man, not seriously. Not serious at all. Merely highlighting that this will be used as a diversionary tactic by many. I will attempt to signpost my sarcasm with more clarity moving forward.

That doesn’t start until next week.
Compared to the pinnacle of good governance, probity and adherence to the goals of public service that we have had for the last few years?

What would you say was their outstanding legacy of over half a generation of power?

SD.
Different question, one is the past and the other is the future. The past is not a reliable guide to the future sonar
Yet lots of people here point to Labour past governments as a warning?
Many more in the polls wanting a labour government.

It’s a silly claim in the Telegraph denied by the Met. Probably better for the Cons to look closer to home for the source..

Another new day. Another day for Rishi to turn things around.
No one else has been found out for gambling on election dates so now it's time to focus on the good things Tories have done.
I have a real feeling the polls will narrow and that Rishi could make the greatest political; comeback of the last decade nay last century

The Tories really are divorced from reality if they think this will deflect anything away from them.

I can't imagine anyone is anything but thankful it was leaked.

Exactly, which is why I can't see it as a diversion, it's a non-starter.

If a Met officer blew the whistle, well done to them.

And yet, its top of the news today... so someone thought it would be a good idea to try throw the Met under the bus for this.

An alternative view is that it's not throwing the Met under a bus but supporting their openness and the good work by one officer in blowing the whiste (if that's what happened).

It's a hopeless diversion if that was the intent on somebody's part.

but they weren't gamblers. They already knew the outcome. They were trying to line their own pockets by cheating the bookies.

I don't think anyone's buying your 'alternative' view. And if anyone does, tell them I have a bridge to sell for cheap.

There aren't enough conspiracy theorists to get you a good price, and the non-diversion possibility is obvious.

I think this gambling business has been really unfortunate for Rishi and shows that he has been let down by the people around him.

Just because he was a hedge fund guy doesn’t mean that he in any way would condone financial speculation about important events.
