Trump stock sliding today. If he doesn’t turn up it will badly impact the campaign they’re running. Until today the stock had been on the up, presumably because people thought he would do well.
Am I missing something? AIUI Trump didn't pay anything for that stock, so even if it's worth $0.000001c he's still quids in, isn't he?
It may depend upon how much it was valued at when he used it as collateral to borrow liquid cash…

I was under the impression it wasn't permissible to borrow against the stock? There was a moratorium/waiting time until any transactions were allowed?

The restriction is stated only to be on the transfer of shares: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1849635/00...

So he couldn’t post them as collateral, but he might be able to include them amongst assets over which he grants a lien? I’m not an expert in securing lending against shares.

Of course he'll be there.
It's a bit like the Australian GP every year :

Get involved, set the alarm, watch it live and feel wrecked for the rest of the day ?

- or record it and then watch it over breakfast in the morning. I think the debate will be more entertaining than the average GP but I think I'm heading for the CNN/CNC* option.

I fully understand that.
But reality bites.

For example, there's plenty of pedophiles that'll tell you that "it's true love......"

People with cognitive dissonance shouldn't expect to get a free pass, when it's something abhorrent.

I said I’d let it go but we haven’t had this story for a while:

On a flight to L.A., Marjorie Taylor Green left her seat in coach and went to sit in first class. When the flight attendant told her she has to return to her seat, MTG said "I'm a Congresswoman, I'm a patriot, and I'm staying right here until we reach L.A."

The flight attendant talked to the flight crew, so the co-pilot went back and told MTG she needed to go back to her seat. MTG said "I'm a Congresswoman, I'm a patriot, and I'm staying right here until we reach L.A."

The co-pilot reported failure to the pilot, who said "I can handle this. My dad's a MAGA". So the pilot went and whispered something to MTG, who said "Oh, okay" and returned to her seat in coach.

The co-pilot asked the pilot "What did you say?". The pilot replied "I told her first-class wasn't going to L.A.".

It's a bit dull, Biden's gone a bit "Teresa May at the 2017 conference of doom" with a frog in his throat and TFG has been administered strong sedatives.

He's not sparkling for sure, TFG is doing his usual "greatest hits" which are mostly bks, although he seems very muted. Either drugged or his handlers have actually persuaded him to not act like the titanic bigot he is normally.

I think it’s quite sad - it’s obvious Biden is not with it

So far I don't think anyone is going to change their minds over this. Neither are good debaters in this format. Biden has made many fine speeches, but this format isn't his strong suit - his stumbling over words (which is a function of his lifelong stutter) means he's not a inherently confident debater.

Trump is of course just repeating his greatest hits.

It makes me misty eyed for debates of old. Take a look at the first Obama vs McCain debate from 2008 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b7NfEZWBzw and be aghast at what we've lost. Those were serious, articulate, people, seeking to win a battle of ideas. Tonight's display is just point-scoring.

To quote Obama from that debate, "the question we have to ask ourselves is how did we get into this situation in the first place?"

Are we watching the same debate? I see nothing that suggests "Biden is not with it." Do you have specific examples you think show otherwise? He's not a great orator in this environment, his speech impediment doesn't work to his advantage.

He's not that, but he's definitely tripping over his words. TFG is spouting utter bullst, it really needs real time factchecking, but he's doing it fluently which may impress the easily impressed. The Family Fortunes claxon every time he told a whopper would drown out most of his speech.

We are obviously not watching the same debate - a “speech impediment” yeh right

Biden's lifelong speech impediment doesn't help him at all when talking off the cuff. That doesn't make him "not with it;" it makes him not an effective orator in this environment.

I'd rather neither candidate were here, so we're clear.

Agreed about the fact-checking; Trump shouldn't be allowed out without a fact-checking chaperone smile
