Your ability to judge risk is whacked.
My ability is fine, unfortunately others don't have the ability to judge risk.

There are far too many to post, but you get the idea, children and dog's don't mix.
Neither do Americans and guns but there we are.

I have not met a cow in the street for many years though. Most of those killed by cows will either be working with them or have chosen to approach them. For most of us, unlike dogs, they are easily avoided.
Or have uncontrolled dogs that try and get inbetween between cows.

I almost learnt the hard way in Sutton Park about a decade ago. Cows really don't dogs coming near them.

When I walk past a field of cows or sheep (he have lots around here) with my Lab I get him to sit by the gate.

Quite often the the cows come over to investigate. He is not allowed to react.

There have been quite a few people killed by cows because of dogs.

If you walk a dog through a field of cows and calves, all hell will break loose.

It's not even true - on average 3 people are killed by cows per year in the UK. Ten people were killed by dogs in 2022, and there were nearly 9,000 hospital admissions due to dog attacks.

Certainly when I go jogging, my single biggest concern is the risk of dog attack. I've only been bitten a couple of times but being jumped by a dog happens quite frequently - and you've no real idea if you're about to be attacked or if the dog is just playing until it's happened. A little while ago on a quiet country track a Pitbull type dog ran from it's owner and jumped at me, butting the arm I'd put up to defend myself. I had no idea if it was going to actually bite me until it'd jumped down and I was unhurt. The owner looked up from his phone and said 'won't hurt you, mate'. Nice.

I had a Labrador jump up once and butt me in the face. The owner of that dog was equally unconcerned.

Personally, I'd like to see all dogs muzzled in public, however I know in reality that will only penalise responsible owners and problematic owners will simply carry on as before.

My current dog is a rescue-she had a terrible previous life, covered in scars and teeth missing. Gets scared very easily, but gets aggressive when scared sometimes, didn’t know this when I got her, but it is what it is, had her six years next week-she has never been off the lead since we’ve had her, and never will be.
Just too unpredictable.
My old staffie was scared of her own shadow, but I was happy to walk her off the lead everywhere, only ever clipped her on when another dog approached.
I find it hard to believe nobody intervened in this tragic story. What a terrible painful way to go-but seven dogs to one walker is ridiculous

Same here with my Corso. She was more confused than anything.

You say it's not true but it is, sorry find the stats to prove it isn't, I use HSE for the stats.

Where are you or what are you doing to get these dogs doing this? I have never had it happen, I am not for one minute saying it should happen or doubting its happened. Are you scared of dogs?

Completely agree with your last point, I would add I would never muzzle my dog, but I am responsible and understand that not everyone likes dogs or wants them to be near them I have had no issues with other people, infact because he is so calm and docile many friends who are scared of dogs spend time with him to build up their confidence.

Was going to ask why people post pictures of their pets on a dog attack thread but I went back and it looks like a few have been deleted anyway

Dogs behaviour changes when in a pack…. 8 dogs is a pack. If she was on her own then the most she should have been walking was 4… This is condition of a dog walkers license from the local council.

8 dogs running around off lead are impossible to control by one person, and even on lead your going to be pulled down very easily if one starts getting stty.

With 8 dogs your going to start getting one of the dogs trying to be top dog… non-aggresive dogs become aggressive and all hell breaks loose.

We’ve got 5 dogs. We never take them all out together unless its to a closed off dog field for our dogs only!!

You right, that’s an unpopular opinion. None of my dogs have ever needed a lead to be under control.

Clearly 8 are too many, national legislation doesn't cover this, some councils do for licenced dog walkers. No legal requirement to be licensed however.

The point is valid. You think you are smart pasting links to issues with dog ownership in the U.K. and claiming your risk judgement is good, but I could match every single one with a school shooting in the US, let along mass shootings or any shooting. Yet in America you still have them everywhere with pretty decent support levels. So any point you are trying to make regarding dogs in a country thousands of miles away is fully undermined.

Well as this is a car site and given some of the posts, I may as well go all in ...

Cars kill more people than dogs and you just can't get away from them..... Ban cars.
