A woman and a person of colour? Steady on chap! The southern cross flag is still a talking point in many places....

I don't think AOC would get the votes. She's more suited to a Pelosi type role, i think.

Harris would need to step up her game. Might have an opportunity if biden wins this year, be president without a vote wink

Not familiar enough with Whitmer.

For the ladies, despite everything Hilary did get a huge vote, all things considered. So a female president isn't out of the question.

Gay president? Not sure the US is quite ready to vote one in just yet.

Any dems considering running in 2028 need to be out in support of biden this year, and if biden wins they need to be a prominent figure getting things done over the next three years. Trumpism won't be a thing in 2028, no matter what happens.

M.
First off my good sir, as an Australian I take exception to the Confederate flag being referred to as the "southern cross". biggrin

I believe it's the "stars and bars".

But I agree a fresh face as the VP would help. I don't dislike Harris and dont get the hate (although I think we all know why they hate her) but the Dems would be better off with someone else, someone who might be a good prez in 2028 like Newsom Mayor Pete or Beto.

People don't get banned unless they deserve it. Your incessant bellyaching about it, won't alter the fact.

That thread appears one sided, because there are literally no redeeming aspects to trumps character. Occasionally trump fans pop in to repeat some nonsense they've read online, but they soon leave when they're confronted with counter evidence from reliable sources.

That thread is one of the best ones in NP&E precisely because it expects wild claims to be supported by some kind of evidence.
Funny how they wouldn't give a reason and I received no emails for it like you normally would.

I bet people don't leave, but are generally just banned from it.
Would be interesting to see the number of users banned from there.
Someone in #45 made this comment: "Someone needs to take the phone away from grandpa dementia don"

Imagine if you posted the same thing in #46 and replaced one name. I bet it would be deleted and poster banned.

The leash is a lot looser if you criticise / mock the 'right' person.
Definitely, they are too far gone to see it though.
I've noticed byker bringing up trumps mental decline/dementia etc, but they defend biden to the hilt even when he's trying to shake nobody's hand on the stage and has to be led off by his doctor/wife hehe

I don't even like trump (this will be jumped on as usual...) But I don't like biden either and at least when trump was in charge we weren't nearly in WW3!

Ironic view, imagine being so obsessed with someone you don't like you post day after day on a car forum about him as if it will make any difference. Enjoy the circle jerk/echo chamber guys.

Will be amusing to watch when trump gets back in hehe
Full troll bingo here.
Haha didn't take long, if you say so... Guessing you and the others have already submitted multiple reports to try and get me banned here too rolleyes

What said above is considered trolling by you?

Quick round up the guys for more reporting... rolleyes
It's all trolling. You even actually said 'circle jerk'.

You know exactly what you're up to.

It's a circle jerk when you ban any dissenting voices and only listen to what you want to hear...

The problem you Trump supporting/Biden disliking folk have is that you rely on bad information, which is why you get called out. Time after time, without learning anything.

I don't know what you did to get banned from the other threads. But your behaviour here suggests it was likely to be deserved.

The problem with you biden loving/trump hating folk is you think you are always right and don't let any counter topics be discussed, just gang up and shout the person down until they get banned, then rinse and repeat.

I guess only CNN etc are allowed... Totally no bad info there

I'm sure you were one that reported me, it was a 'discussion' we were having that I got banned from, funny enough you didn't and I said nothing worse than you.

Of course it was all cleaned up so nobody can tell for themselves now... Convenient

My Virginia in-laws refer to it as the southern cross.

Like all things US, it depends on who you talk to. In some parts, it's not "the civil war", it's "the war of northern agression". Not a joke/sarcasm. biggrin

Newsom might have issues if Texas comes into play (it's turning more purple each year). Flipping Texas is a game changer, but Texans don't like Californians. If the dems do a good job on the border, who knows what might happen there. (Texas has 40 electoral college votes, more than either Florida or New york)

Someone with the presence and speaking skills on a particular (or close to) Obama would be a very, very strong candidate. But he was exceptional, to be fair.

The only person I have ever reported on any Pistonheads thread was 50 Mustang several years ago when he made a 'joke' involving the kids murdered at Sandy Hook and something about 'Liberal Tears Gun Oil'.

I hope so, banning people from discussion is not the way to go about things, I agree with something like you mention above being posted is crossing a line, but I don't think I have done anything genuinely worthy of a ban.

The fact they gave no examples and just said 'it appears you were trolling' is a joke, then delete the posts so nobody can decide for themselves...

I've heard the "war o northern aggression" thing before as well.

I think flipping Texas in the short term is a pipe dream, long term, who knows.

However Newsom is likely to be reluctant to leave the CA governorship. Which is why Beto O'Rourke might be a good option. Texan, somewhat conservative so he'll appeal to those who want an economically conservative govt and couldn't give two sts about fake culture wars.

Ironic, when you lot assume anyone questioning biden is automatically a trump supporter...

There's been some focus on here (and the 45 thread) about Trump's lack of funds.

But won't his recent successes in Iowa and NH help shore that up now?

That's probably why he's still mad at Nikki running - resources are being split and effectively "wasted" in GOP on gop battles when it would be better saved for November (if you were a gop campaigner)

I think Nikki is on borrowed time, as the media won't do her any favours, whereas trump coming from behind in 2016 was lapped up by the press.
Koch is bankrolling Haley, or was prior to the primaries starting.

Presumably you've been on both the Trump and Biden threads giving them both stick then?

I don't think Biden is fit to be president but I'd take him over Insurrection Trump any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Not exactly a high water mark.

Yup.

An Obama mk2 would be great, but given what likely will be the choice… old man Biden over the man who is so bogged down with court cases he’s aging in dog years.

Half expect him not to make it to Election Day.

Nope. Your point?

The reading and ratification of the electoral college (Jan 6th or whatever day it falls on) is a matter of procedure but it is formal. Putting up an objection is fair and reasonable and both parties have done it for years. I would suggest that some of the objections do have some merit (NC for example does have a pretty bad record on voter suppression for example), but unless there is a specific and definitive reason, the objections are overruled.

Biden did his job in 2017 and Pence did his job in 2021. What we see is a view into the unnecessary steps that the US government needs to go through to get things done. If it were up to me, I would streamline the lot, but it isnt and I cant.

Biden has fluffed a number of things and thats bad. However, it wasnt Biden who brought up the issue of mental decline though. It was Trump and his 'crew' that kicked this all off. They took pot shots at Biden and, in some cases quite rightly, have indicated that there are some issues.

However, Trump is flubbing stuff now and rambles on about random stuff. So its not a case of ignoring this, but a case of countering / responding and the whole projection issue.

Unfortunately, this is a 1 or a 0 situation. There are no other alternatives currently and baring a massive change, it looks like we are stuck with the both of them. I guess you have another option to scribble crap on your ballot, but unfortunately if you are anti-Biden, that somewhat leaves only one person to support (even if its grudgingly).

And can you expand on the WW3 part? Pretty sure we were no where near that and if this is to do with Ukraine, thats Russian propaganda. They would never use nukes and last time I checked, there are no NATO or US troops in Ukraine. China hasnt invaded Taiwan and Israel / Gaza doesnt have international involvement.

Hardly the same though is it? i.e. trump made 37 posts defaming Carroll in 2 hours, whilst on trial for defamation. I've not seen Biden do that biggrin
Also, if he had a competant lawyer I bet his posts would be vetted, to minimise the damages.

Claims by some that the E Jean Carroll ruling and the trump org fraud ruling to come, could have trump declaring bankruptcy again
