Might have missed the first one whilst he was in Barbados? And by the time he got home he was too poorly. Family say he has been ill for 2 weeks and now tested positive.

Apparently he hasn’t received the vaccine as he already had pneumonia, and the doctors advised against it in case of a reaction.

Didn’t know he’d been away. He’ll be lucky to survive pneumonia at that age let alone corona

That is sadly true - pneumonia- the old mans friend.

I wish him well, but why was he travelling? He must have been at high risk of contracting the virus...!

Can’t understand why he wasn’t offered the vaccine before he went on holiday

Arrived 11 December it seems so travel was allowed - it was on his bucket list apparently and BA gave him a free flight.

Given that he has apparently been poorly for a couple of weeks, then maybe taking that trip may not have been such a good idea for him.

At 100 with pneumonia, I wouldn’t like to say what the prognosis is. Pneumonia is not called the old mans friend for nothing - it is usually a big cause of death for older people.

A holiday in the bahamas instead of a few extra years existing in your care home... not the worst trade I’ve seen this week

65 million people are in lockdown to give the best chance for people like him. He could at least do the decent thing and shield while the rest of us are suffering. And now his and the actions of his family have led to him clogging up a hospital bed...

Probably. Which may explain the problem it seems from what I have recently heard.

The BBC are reporting his family as saying he hadn't been vaccinated due to the medication he was on for pneumonia.
