Murphy's cheesy Schick was starting to whiff a bit by this film but I still like it. Have the effects suffered in the years?

[Eric Mc]

I'm quite tolerant of bad films but I well remember thinking in the cinema "What the hell am I doing here" .

Maybe a second look 25 years on might reveal its hidden pleasures - but I doubt it.

I've never been a great Murphy fan - although I like his "Donkey" in the Shrek films.

'Coming to America' was good fun but the best film he's starred in was 'Trading Places'.

I agree.
Didn't hurt to have Dom Ameche, Denholm Elliot, Dan Ackroyd and Ralph Bellamy in it
I also liked (had to google this) Paul Gleason when he is on the phone and tells that woman to 'fk off'. That was still shocking to be funny back then
