Anyone else planning on watching it?

heard Winkleman on bbc last night talking about it, she didn't seem very impressed, but yes it 'looks' like it could be good. Will watch this thread over the next few days, see what normal people think...

I can't stand wankleman so didn't bother watching the review on the prog (I knew it was being reviewed though). I guessed that she wouldn't like it, so I probably will. smile

lets be honest when was the last time you heard a mainstream show say anything nice about a sci-fi or fantasy film / series etc.

they don't as they think people will see them as geeks and look down on them. they don't like to look like they are not high brow guardian readers.

yet the man in the street obviously watches stuff like this otherwise Hollywood et al would not make the films etc.

Skyline looked good from the trailers, but was without a doubt one of the worst films that I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. Its the sort of film that deserved to go straight to torrents .... on a private tracker with no logins available.

In the very same review, she was remarking how good a film Independance Day was...

I don't want to be disresectful as I have a Mum, Wife & Daughter but...

You'll never see a group of women at a showing of any Sci-Fi film...not even the classics like Star Wars etc. Its just not their thing.

So even listening to Claudia try to critique it is a joke. I'd rather listen to a 5 year old boys thoughts on the film than her.

I asked the missus if she'd like to come and see it on Saturday night and she looked at me with sheer horror in her eyes.

Needless to say, me and my lad will be going biggrin

It does look OK from what little I have seen (but so did the 2012 trailers....)

But LA! Again! Enough already!

99.9% of the time you are right, but I happen to a girl who loves Sci-Fi - her sister and mother do too - in fact, they actually play on-line fantasy games.................

I am willing to bet they'll like this film too (assuming it's any good of course!) - they love LOTR, Star Wars, Underworld, Terminator 4 etc.....

I have to admit the trailers make the film look superb - I surely hope it is.....

Winkleman was moaning how the action was near constant and no let up, I kind of get the feeling that that may be the point of the film. It's a final stand against invading aliens for a military point of view, i can imagine it would be non bloody stop. Stupid cow.

Film 2011 does seem quite snobby brown nosing "art" films.

I think i might go and see it and make my own mind up.

Saw another review on ITV2 earlier tonight on a film show hosted by James King i think, the guy who does the Radio 1 film slot, he also thought it was pretty rubbish. These aren't my opinions, just passing on what i saw on tv. As i said i'll see what the ph'ers verdict is...

Was thinking about going to see this. Think its one of those movies where you have to make your own mind up but I have read some good reviews on line. Most of them say its more like Black Hawk Down than Independence Day and because there are no major stars in it, you never which one of the platoon the movie follows aren't going to make it to the final credits.

Might invest the time and money.

This looks like it could be ok, but it does look like it is just Independance Day and War Of The Worlds rolled together.
You don't think Hollywood are just warming over an old idea do you? rolleyes
