I saw the documentary mentioned in the title of this thread when it was aired on ITV1 in November and thought that it was fantastic, really opened my eyes to how clinical and, frankly boring most of the world of motorsport has now become compared to how things were back then, and also opened my eyes to how good Sheene and Hunt were. I wanted to show it to a friend of mine, however when I came to search for it, it had been removed from ITV's Player service - I was wondering if anyone else had seen it and would know whether it was available on DVD or on another online service? Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers

I agree it was excellent. And Stephanie MacLean was the most georgeous woman alive back when she was Sheene's girlfriend...and put up with so much. It was suggested that the entire catalogue of Tiger Woods transgressions mounts up to what Barry Sheene would call a quiet weekend.

The truth of the matter is that Hunt and Sheene would be hounded out by the media, moreover with the level of fitness and dedication to the sport, the public (egged on by the media) would have hounded them out as well, assuming the corporate sponsors would not have insisted first. Look at Woods. In Hunt and Sheene's day the journo's would not have reported it, as chances are they'd be knee deep in (insert here) with Hunt and Sheene, rather than looking for a story.

The world rightly and wrongly in different ways the world is much changed, we know and care, and demand to know, way too much about what our sporting heroes, consequently they are much less freedom, less rounded, and are more blanded, for better, and some worse ways.
