I've after many years of listening to Radio 1 in the car finally turned my back on the station. Maybe I'm getting old (37 this year), but I think what's done it for me is what a totally irritating tapeworm Chris Moyles is. He's always been an irritating parasite, but has got unbearable in the morning.
I have moved, like many others I suspect to Radio 2 and am really enjoying the experience. The music is not always my cup of tea, but the DJ's are great - I've come to love Chris Evans, and also look forward to Jeremy Vine and Steve Wright.

Only thing is, I miss hearing new music, so am trying listening to Zane Lowe of an evening when I get the chance, but this can be a bit hit and miss. I used to like Century FM, now Real Radio but most commercial stations tend to annoy due to the adverts.

What does everyone else like / hate or recommend (that a North West listener could tune into)?

only ever listen to R2 or Planet Rock for music, except for the odd diversion into Classic FM. R4 is good sometimes, but I never quite know what's going to be on when I turn over.

The trouble with Steve Wright is that he still thinks he's making a "relevant" contribution to modern trends. The way he sings along with the tracks, you can just tell everyone else in the studio is facepalming. He's just a tt. Also, nobody has ever said "love the show" on any of their texts or emails. He adds that in to every single one.

6 Music:

Brilliant DJs most of which have been (or still are) in their own bands, all of them excellently connected and some with simply fantastic radio voices: Huey, Craig Charles, Jarvis and of course Cerys cloud9

As I drive for a living, Radio 2 is excellent as it gives the best traffic reports going. Dont really dislike any of the DJ's so its all good. Absolutely despise Radio 1, especially that tosser Moyles. Sometimes listen to Capital (formerly Galaxy) or Key 103 depending on the mood.

After I grew out of Radio 1, it's been Radio 4 all the way for me.

Get. Out. "Love the show Steve". He's a nob.

Anyway, at nearly 33 I've switched off Radio 1 in favour of BBC 2 (Chris Evans and Simon Mayo for my to/from commute). Chris Moyles has become so much of a self-opinionated fat fk I couldn't stand him any more.

I've given up on radio completely. I have a very short commute, so most of my music-listening is done at work. We used to listen to Radio 1, until my manager subscribed to Napster.

No more annoying presenters with over-inflated egos playing the same 10 songs ALL day. Used to do my head in. We even found the likes of Planet Rock got very samey after a month or so. Instead we can listen to whatever we like.

The auto mixing thing is pretty good too, so we don't really miss out of the 'discovering new music' thing radio gives you.

In-car music services are dealt with by a well stocked iPod and Connects2 interface smile

Well, I like the show.
Gotta wonder about Chris "I will interupt EVERYONE" Moyles though, his ratings must have plummeted recently since his wage rant and Chris Evans going to Radio 2, surely he will be shifted from prime time soon?
I'd love to slap him round the chops with a wet salmon.

I've not listened to Moyles since Evans came on. Moyles used to be entertaining but now he's just a tit - it's almost as if he knows people dislike him and it really irritates him that "normo's" are having an impact.

I happened to listen to his show once when he was off but "the crew" were still there. The difference was amazing in that short 10 mins I listened to it. Comedy Dave and Dom the news reader (who is the funniest) were so relaxed it was really good. Just proves the point it must be a nightmare that Moyles is in control of their careers.

I'm radio2 now (apart from Ken Bruce who's a tit) or a CD but as has been said the traffic report is great.

They've actually increased. It appears he can do no wrong!
