Some years ago, I saw what at the time I thought was a really good gangster film. However, I cannot remember the name of the film, and so I cannot see it again, or recommend it to anyone.

What I thought, was if I tried to describe the film on this forum, perhaps someone might be able to identify it and put me out of years of puzzlement.

It is possible that some of the elements I describe are not accurate, and I have modified it by false recollection of the film. I will try my best though.

The film was more or less an English gangster film, but there were Mafia type gangsters also in it. The main character I had in my mind to be Daniel Craig, but I have checked all of his films, and this doesn't appear to be one of them. Also, there is a silent assassin in the film, who I had in my mind was Mark Strong. Again, checking his films, this doesn't appear to be one of them.

The main scene I have in my minds eye is this: The Daniel Craig character is in the kitchen of his house when he hears the gangsters turn up outside. He has a little girl with him, so he tells her to go and hide in one of the kitchen cupboards and be quiet.

The Mafia type gangsters, with a silent assassin type with them, wearing a long coat, bald head and glasses enter the house, find the Daniel Craig character and proceed to interrogate him, finally slamming a knife through his hand ind into the table pinning him there. At this point, the little girl coughs or sneezes, giving her position away.

The gangsters take her out of the cupboard, and presumably threaten to kill her. It is at this point that the silent assassin appears to decide to switch allegiance and shoots each of the Mafia gangsters in the kitchen, then proceeds to walk from room to room in the house, listening intently to footsteps, and shoots each of the approaching gangsters through the walls, floor and ceiling, killing them all wirh amazing accuracy and a very slick style.

After the gangsters are all dead, the film zooms to a car outside, where the Mafia gangster talks to some boss-type on the phone, saying that the assassin has killed them all.

That is all I can recall of the film, so if anyone has any idea what film this might be, please let me know!

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Steve

Wow, that was fast! Firstly, it is not Leon, I know that film well. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Revolver, eh.. now there's a thought. I like Guy Ritchie films, so i certainly would have seen it when it came out. I will find that film, watch it and see if this is the one, and report back.

Thankyou Pesty and sleep envy smile You don't know how long I have been pondering that for. Much appreciated!

Cheers,
Steve

Having just watched the youtube link of the gunfight scene, you have certainly identified the film for me smile Thank you very much Pesty!!

I'm pleased it was Mark Strong as the assassin, but I was quite wide of the mark with the main character being Daniel Craig.

Again, many thanks!!

Cheers,
Steve
