It's been on a few times over the last 3 weeks - on BBC3 atm.

Is it just me is this a beautifully made, really watchable film? I think it's the lack of dialogue that does it.

Lovely movie, bit of a jump but, the start has a similar pace to the start of 2001. I like a movie with a slower pace and not packed with dialogue.

Brilliant film - have it on BluRay and the animation still takes my breath away every time I watch it. I think it shows how talented the studio is that they can have very little dialogue yet still create some wonderful characters.

I think it's just you Steve!

The only fly in the ointment for me is, how can we be smart enough to build a spaceship the Axiom, and all the clever robots, yet be stupid enough to turn the Earth into a dump?

I think that that is one of the points they are trying to make in the film...

The first half hour or so where it's just Wall-E rolling round working then following EVE around is utterly brilliant. I think Pixar are one of the few film makers that haven't made a bad film.

Agree that the start is absolutely fantastic. I went to see it in the cinema and was mesmerized!

The end is a little too preachy for me but still a great movie.

Quite agree - it is a superb film.

I always like the first half hours of Pixar films - they're always the happy times, showing how good life is etc. Whether it's Bug's Life, Toy Story etc.

But yes, Wall-E is very good, and it really shows class writing to have the main character have zero lines, as it were.

Except in Up, of course, where the first section contains the timeline of Carl and Ellie growing up, getting married, etc. That's really sad. And Toy Story 3, where we discover that Andy is about to go off to college and the toys are preparing for a life in the attic - or potentially for being put out for the bin! eek

Wall-E is one of my favourite films. It proves that less can be more, that you don't need to cram a film full of action to make it entertaining. And it's also an abject warning against the dangers of allowing a supermarket chain to become all-powerful. BNL could easily be a company like Tesco.

Good point about those 2 films!

Up was the second film ever that I've cried to. (the first being Forest Gump..when Jenny died!). But even that has elements of joy in it to begin with, even though it's extremely sad.

The beginning of Finding Nemo isn't a happy time either...

I think he's referring to the bit where Nemo's mum gets eaten. wink
