Somehow I've managed to get through life without seeing star wars so I think it's time I sorted that out.

The thing is what order should I watch them, originals 1st or the prequels 1st? Infact should I even bother with the prequels?

Originals first, then burn the prequels. And you need to try and find the oldest version of them possible. All the newer "editions" are akin to Da Vinci sprinkling glitter on the Mona Lisa to make it "better".

Watch the originals first followed by the 'prequels', otherwise you'll spoil it for yourself smile

Just remember that they are old films so probably not as visually stunning as many modern efforts, and the storyline is quite simple...... especially on the prequels where they border on pre-school laugh

I personally though Ja Ja was the least wooden actor in the prequels laugh

^This. Episodes 4, 5 and 6. Forget 1-3, utter tosh which appear to have been made to demonstrate CGI and sell toys.

After that, watch the Family Guy 4, 5 and 6 parodies.

As above, pretty much.

EpIV - Great, although even in 33 years ago, as a small kid, I thought it looked curiously old-fashioned...

EpV - Critics say 'It's the best'. They're not wrong. AT-AT Walkers.

EpVI - OK. Good space battle. 'It's a trap.'

EpI - fking Jar-Jar. What in the name of Jesus Titty-fking Christ was Lucas thinking? Bits with Liam Neeson & Ewan from Crieff are fine.

EpII -Pretty good I thought. Lots of 'sabers, angst, and people getting chopped in half.

Ep III - See above.

The prequals are something to watch when you're really quite bored. There are bits i like across all three though. I like the fight scene with Darth Maul, but then Ray Park is pretty good in most film fight scenes.

Watch this first, it might give you a few clues.

The prequels actually aren't that bad, it's just that it's become trendy to hate them. Admittedly Phantom Menace has a lot of flaws and is the weakest of the six, but it's still better than most sci-fi films and more than watchable with a great final fight. Episode 2 is a definite improvement and once again has a brilliant final battle, although admittedly Anakin's acting is pretty poor. Now Revenge of the Sith is a genuinely great film and for me actually sits higher in the rankings than Return of the Jedi. It's dark and far more grown up than its predecessors

Star Wars is ace, was always essential viewing on Christmas Day Morning, usually 10ish for around 5-7 years.
Empire Strikes Back is likewise ace, not sure if I saqw that one in the cinema or no.
I know I definitely saw Return(bought some of the toys when it was still called Revengebiggrin) of the Jedi in the cinema.
Star Wars might have looked old due to the serial style Lucas wanted?

Don't like Phantom Menace, just boring, but good fun to guess who Darth Sideous is, CLone Wars is a bit blah.
Revenge of the Sith is a decent film to watch though, if simply for the fact that Yoda and the Emperor duke it out, and we get to see Vader as wellbiggrin

The prequels are worth watching for episode 3 alone as it brings the story to a nice conclusion.

Chances are if you enjoyed 4 5 and 6 you will watch 1 2 and 3 without question.

this is ace,

trouble with tinkerer Lucas is that he likes the stories to continue outside of the films, like the animated film and the cartoons.
Though the comic one where the Emperor comes back sounds good.

another tinker, sounds good though.
A Blu-ray Disc version of the Star Wars saga has been announced for release in 2011 during Star Wars Celebration V. A deleted scene from Return of the Jedi was confirmed to be included for the Blu-ray version, in which Darth Vader communicates with Luke via the Force while he is assembling his new lightsaber just before he infiltrates Jabba's palace

Watch this quick clip too:

From Spaced.

Everything in those three films happens because of the bad marksmanship of one minor charachter. If his accuracy had been greater, he would have shot the pod with the two robots in, who wouldnt have met Luke, who wouldnt have got the message, who...

Oh, and an entire empire brought to its knees by small, furry creatures.

4,5 & 6 are done. Enjoyable and I can see why they blew everyone away when they were new. I think I'll pick the other box set up with parts 1,2 & 3 but I won't be watching them tomorrow, I'm all Star Warsed out for now.
