BBC1: Bristish Schools, Islamic Rules
Discussion
Interesting stuff here
I'm mindful of not being led down a path of thought by Auntie, but some of the quotes from websites and text are unbelievable
Women should not leave the home during certain hours
Do not watch TV/Films
Do not offer assistance to other muslims at risk of stoning in their home country
Seriously, what century are these people living in?
And the real piss boiler (similar to) force non muslims from the pavement
This kind of crap, combined with financial instability does not bode well...............

Something needs to be done by "average" (read non extremist) Muslims to balance this kind of crap out (I'm of no particular faith BTW, but have no probs with other peoples so long as it doesnt lead to the subdication of women/death by stoning for adultery/other very silly blx in the name of an invisible deity)
But then, I doubt the Beeb are interested in their balanced views, wont bring the viewers in, will it?

Can we see the day coming when the whole of the UK is under Islamic rule?
No.The programme was careful to point out the difference between "normal" schools and these radicalised outlets.
What was upsetting was that the "radical" text books were actually the standard school books printed for the Saudi Arabian school curriculum.

All religions know you have to get to the kids early to properly brainwash them. It should be one set class for all. If parents then wish to teach them more it should be done at home.
A swipe at the beeb for being too reactionary?
Personally I wish we had no faith schools, but I think they will increase in number rather than go away, I read the blurb on this show, it seemed as depressing as any other based on faith schools. Am not surprised of some of the rubbish coming from KSA.

Ban religious indoctrination in educational establishments. That's faith schools.
If people want to brainwash their kids about their imaginary friends then let them do so in their own time.
I have mixed feelings based on my experience. I have two children that attend a local primary school. It's a predominantly white area (we are not) with a good ethnic mix. The Muslim townsfolk have set up a Sunday school, which most of the Muslim school children attend. I don't in any way believe that the Muslim Sunday school is extreme in its nature and would probably be considered moderate.. However, the Muslim children return from Sunday school espousing ideas such as "Muslims shouldn't attend the birthday parties of non-muslim children" , "pop music is not good for Muslims", "non-muslims are silly". (These are five to eleven year olds). Not violent extremism but hardly the stuff that cohesive tolerant and integrated societies are formed from. If people want to brainwash their kids about their imaginary friends then let them do so in their own time.
I say I have mixed feelings because sometimes I feel the Muslim children and their parents would be happier in a Muslim faith school. However, the counter argument is that exposure to these children is an education for my children in itself. My kids will regularly come home and ask questions like. "why do the Muslim children make these comments?", "why won't my Muslim friend come to my Birthday party?", "why do the Muslim girls wear tights in summer?" etc.

To add a little balance. In a past life I was a very briefly teacher as I hated it. It came in useful once though as after I'd retrained, I was waiting to start my first ever grown-up job, and went back and did some supply teaching as I was skint.
I taught in a large proportion of the sink schools in Brum, many of which were horrendous. I have to say though, the schools that were predominantly Muslim, were a delight to teach in. Despite coming from exactly the same areas and social classes as the white and black kids, they were polite, attentive, and wanted to learn. This contracted starkly with the equally mixed schools were typically the kids were aggressive, rude, and typically didn't care to be taught because they were going to make their money being "Gangstas". If it wasn't so sad, it would have been funny.
Now I despise religion in all it's forms, but in this instance, I grudgingly admit that it had a positive effect on the kids.

I see we have the usual attempt to conflate extremist Muslim sunday schools with Church of England and Catholic run schools that have been doing a decent job of educating children without indoctrinating them for decades.
There can never be a sensible debate about Islamic extremism here if the brigade who've read the back of Dawkins' book always jump in to subvert the conversation into a diatribe against people who believe in "imaginary friends" and "sky-pixies".
Anyway, as to the topic in question: this teachingis incitement to religious/racial hatred and these schools should be banned. There is no room for political correctness here.

This is one of the first sensible things I've ever read on here - well said chap!
