I bet the conclusion is "Yes they got a few things wrong, but ultimately the message is right and we all need to live in a cave"

I wouldn't be too sure. It was channel 4 that originally aired The Great Global Warming Swindle.

I suspect this is more going to be about needing nuclear energy and so on rather than the AGW myth.

I like the bald guy. "it's unreasonable to expect people to have a carbon footprint the size of a pesant, it's just stupid"

But, here we go - a bald statement that to avoid a 2 degree C rise we need to . . cut CO2 surprise, surprise. The demon is outed. Natch.

Prypiat is a fascinating place. I'd like to go one day and experience it.

I don't think this programme will kick of until the discussion/argument starts afterwards.

Lot's of lovely, emotive, shots of clouds of . . steam now on the prog. following the remark that coal use is causing changes to our climate.

Strangely didn't move from CO2 to H2O though. Or, not.

Pelicans over malaria reduction! Great. Sums up the environmental movement so well.

So far all this has done has made me hate environMENTALists more, they are at least partly to blame for:

Slowed development of Neuclear Power
Increase in use of Coal for power generation
Increase in cases of Malaria due to protesting against DDT

Me too - and I didn't think that possible! - so, result!

Nice to see the greenpiss demonisers getting some over due blame for their anti-science, anti-human interference.

And how many millions of deaths due to malnutrition now...

I can forgive the program a little bit of pro-mmcc because it's fair laying into them in other ways.

I hate the assumptions....

"Everyone is asking theirselves 'how can I live a better life'"

I'm not.
I don't give a stuff about the environment or the planet.

Oh, greenpiss is a pragmatic, solution finding scientific organisation now; not idealogical at all, no siree.

The irony and hypocrisy tabled in the programme was nauseating.

One one hand we have the environmentalists lobbying against, and subsequently halting, the creation of clean energy (nuclear), thus being the catalyst for more coal fired power stations which play a large part of the atmospheric CO2 they are so very bloody concerned about (for some reason or another).

On the other, we have two greenies (admittedly on the "Green Thinking Must Change" side of the fence), one of which seems to have a very large, very nice pile in the country which no doubt has substantial running costs, the other pedalling a Land Rover Freelander. Both stating that their stance on previously anathema issues to environmentalists has been changed by examining the "science" and the "data".

If that is the case, then why be so convinced that MMGW is such a reality when so many scientists and so much data suggests that MMGW isn't actually proven (and, yes, I have read every page of the two main climate threads in NP&E).
