I've just recently watched the original Star Wars Trilogy, question; can I skip Episode 1 and head straight into Episodes 2/3? From the looks of reviews Episode 3 is a genuinely good film, don't want to waste my time watching pish if it doesn't add much though.

I think you can. There is a decent time gap between them all, things that are covered in the cartoons or the comics or books. Bad guys come and go, you won't miss much. The third one has the best fight scenes.

You are talking about the original trilogy from 1977-83 period?

If you are, no, watch all three.

If you are talking about the later prequels, they are rubbish in comparison so don't bother watching any of them.

  • *spoiler**

The third one has a decent fight between Yoda and the Emperor, that's quite cool.

The thing that annoys me about the prequels is that kids now will probably watch them in the order ep1-ep1-ep3-then the original ep4-ep5-ep6 and in so doing will ruin the twist at the end of Empire as they already know that Vader is Lukes father from ep 3.

yes, feel free to skip I, II as well if you dont feel like it, they both suck massive donkey balls.

Heard Simon Pegg being interviewed on the Radio the other day, he was telling an anecdote about when he met Lucas (I think at the premier of one of the prequels), his advice to him was "Dont be making the same film in 25 years time"

I think the man himself knows they suck a bit too.

That's the second one wink

OP, watch all of them, they don't compare to the originals, but are still quite entertaining, especially the fight scenes.

The second and third one of the "new" trilogy are okay.

You can skip the Phantom Menace and miss nothing of importance.

I used to be a massive fan of the original films but the new ones robbed me of any enthusiasm for them.

Whiny kid turns in to spoilt brat adult, spends half the films having cheesy love affair, CGI character who behaves and talks as if he is a harlem resident and lets not forget the comedy NOOOooooooo!!! at the end of the last one hehe

Rather than telling you the story of vader it makes you wish he was dead.

Yoda fights Dooku in the second, and then fights Palpatine in the third, after order 66;)

This review of The Phantom Menace is way better than the film:

If George Lucas has seen it, I bet it made him cry.
