so, a couple of days ago, a BSB racer mate of mine was filming a feature for the new series of TG, him on the road version of his BMW S1000RR race bike against a race spec Ariel Atom V8, now, throughout the feature, its deliberately made out to be captain slow, however at the end the driver steps out and its.......

Tiff Needell....WTF!!!

confused Sounds odd, looking forward to seeing this. Maybe its retaliation for the Ben Collins situation.

Maybe they drop the "stig" concept, as it has existed for over 10 years now and go for a named driver doing the lap times -> tiff.

As much as I like Tiff's professional POV, his presenter skills and his humbleness (he seems a very likeable person), I hope he won't be a presenter, as he won't fit in the bunch nor the show they have going imho.

Only if they replace the hamster, it would be ok then smile.

They did have to drop the whole Stig concept now and ideally get a presenter in who can both banter with the guys and be able to put in some serious lap times in order to carry on where the Stig left off.

Without wanting to ruin too much for anyone, was it a close race?

Usually around Christmas isn't it? I'd say mid to late November start.

Tiff replaced James May at one of the Top Gear Live/MPH shows a couple of years ago and fitted in fine, it's just three blokes having a laugh at the end of the day.

He certainly can drive (unlike VBH). I just wish he would do more of it instead of tail-out showboating.

Wasn't It Hammond who Tiff replaced at the MPH show ( at least that was the case at the NEC) whilst Hammond recovered from the crash?

I think it was James May who'd hurt his wrist at a previous MPH show, it was at Earls Court, possibly 2006 or 7?

Just been looking at that, I was hoping for a silver suited Stig.

Clearly some intellectual heavyweights reading the TG blog then.

Yes, thank you, Poirot.
