There's a new Zombie series coming out soon, called The Walking Dead

Starring Andrew Lincoln (who was in teachers), director from Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

Looks really good!

I'm really looking forward to this, I've been following its development on AICN for a while now and Frank Darabont always manages to do a great job of bringing books to life.

That's a bit of a disappointment as a start - one of the best bits of a zombie story is the initial outbreak and chaos. Putting the main character to sleep throughout it is a pretty cheap way to dodge that.

Thinking about it, I agree it's definitely one of the best bits. Still looks promising though.

Maybe they'll have flashbacks/recollections?

It's actually based on the absolutely fantastic comic book series.

Slightly off topic, but for anyone who enjoys zombie stories I can recommend 'World War Z' it tells the story of a zombie apocalypse as a series of interviews with people that lived through it. They are supposed to be turning it into a film (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816711/).

I've read that. Interesting book, not particularly well written. But a good read for anyone who likes zombie films.

Looking forward to the film!

Waking up in a hospital bed with the world turned upside down outside is an old staple of sci-fi/fantasy.

+1

Anyone remember the various Triffids books/tv shows? Probably pre-dates those as well.

Looks alright, will get it on series link and see what its like.

Certainly an interesting idea for a series, doesnt look as good as True Blood though.

Is True Blood funny?
I haven't watched it because the first thing I think when I saw it advertised is, 'not another bloody vampire programme.'

The Walking Dead is very well written.
