Following up on "Worst British Comedies" how about these.

"Everybody loves Raymond" Nope the spinless wimp needs a kick up the Backside.
"Cybill", Once you get past the fact it's Cybill Shepard what was the point?
"Joey", Who thought He deserved his own show!!
"Will & Grace" Debra Messing was the only one to get out of this well.

That 'Two and a Half Men' for starters. I really don't get the hype when you can see the jokes coming miles away.

Right then the PH King of Comedy (TM) is here: The worst American comedy (I have seen) by a mile is:

Heil Honey I'm Home.

Seriously you have to watch this to even believe it:

Part 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWjCkcAmzDc
Part 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEUq7FaROIE&fea...
Part 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJcQoV-piDo&fea...

It is so unfunny it not true but the real question is why? Why would anyone think this is a good idea?

Please watch and be fairly horrified!

Surely that would make it a long thread?

When has popularity ever equalled quality?

How many years has Last of the Summer Wine been going?

I guess most of my disdain for it stems from the worship it got/gets while seeming to be completely and utterly mediocre

True...."Big Bang Theory" is probably the funniest thing on TV at the moment.

I have yet to see any American comedy that has made me laugh since probably Happy Days and that was a bit hit & miss

You have obviously seen very little yank comedy then, or only the low rent 'family' stuff.

Watch Arrested Development, if this doesn't make you laugh then frankly your life is completely devoid of all enjoyment and I will feel very sad for you.

If you like that (which you should) then watch other classics like:

It's Always Sunny in Philladelphia
Curb your Enthusiasm
Scrubs
Flight of the Conchords
South park
King of the Hill
The Sarah Silverman Show
Etc etc etc

The very worst American TV sit-com ever was a 1980s train wreck called "Small Wonder". Here's the set-up: A robotics engineer invents an advanced robot in the form of a little girl. For some reason he doesn't want anyone to find out about his new invention, so he and his wife try to pass off the robot as their adopted daughter.

Vicki the robot speaks as you would expect a robot to speak; with a flat, monotone voice. Since she interprets commands literally, much hilarity ensues in each episode.....or not! Yes, it really was a bad as it sounds!

Here's a YouTube video of the first season intro. (Warning: even the intro is pretty painful to watch. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukSvjqwJixw

There are also a few complete Small Wonder episodes on YouTube. If your a fan of wooden acting, paper-thin plot devices and low budget production values then you've just found your new favourite TV programme. For those of you who haven't suffered massive head trauma, you will probably want to punch your computer screen just to make it stop. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Cheers,

When did NZ become part of America? Makes a change from being part of Oz.

Actually a lot of the comedy in ELR was very well observed and funny. Doris Roberts in particular gave a great performance for which she was nominated for 7 and won 4 Emmys. King Of Queens was made by the same outfit and was also very funny. I also liked Back to You with Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton last year. Very funny indeed, hope they commission another series.
