The Mentalist Chanel 5

I watched the first episode last week, really enjoyed and thought it looks like being a great series. But is it just me or have they totally ripped off Derren Brown and turned him into a US drama?

Even in the teaser ads on chanel 5 the main guy from the Mentalist is dressed in a wastecoat just like Derren has with a similar stance and mannerisms.

I watched the 1st episode also, thought it was good, not ground-breaking or gripping and therefore I probably wouldn't make a point of tuning in every week.

As for ripping off Derren Brown, I doubt very much the US execs at CBS know or care who Derren Brown is!

Was quite interesting, but after seeing the 1st epp and the trailers... it looks very ME ME Me around him...which makes for very dull TV!

I liked it, but I could imagine I would get bored with it quite quickly. But then he already knew that....

I've watched up to episode 7 and it is pretty good. Just can't shake that feeling that it's missing something or somethings about to happen that will set it off. I'll watch the first series complete no doubt see how it pans out.
