There was a programme on last night about the world ending in 2012 according to Nostradamus, The Mayans and Hopi Indians.

If only this was true then I would not have to worry about money, go get a loan and buy that M3 V8.

Didn't they use a different calender in Nostrodamus's time?

I think 'his' 2012 probably differs from ours and that it has long since been and gone. However, if the world was about to end, give me a load of booze and some easy women and we can party until it all goes bang!

IIRC it's all to do with it being the end of the long count isnt it? I think it falls in december 2012 somewhere (possible 21st?)

Whoever introduced it didn't feel the need to add enough digits to take their calender past that point - I'm sure it will all be fine though.

Not forgetting that there was never a year 0 as we went from 1BC to 1AD, kinda puts a bit of a downer on things like this. Did old Nostradamus include it in his alchemic algorithms or not? We should be told.

So, watch out in 2013. Oooer, 13.....

They were saying stuff about the Earth etc lining up with the centre of the galaxy and that this would be the third 'big event' the 1st being WW1 & 2nd being WW2. How two world wars have been affected by the stars I've no idea.

I also didn't know the Earth has had 5 mass extinctions.

Clark Gable flew B17's, that must have had an effect.

What has Mr N ever got right? I mean definitively. Not "it will get dark tonight" type prophecies.

I think he also said we'd not make it past 2000. He was kind of wrong on that one.

This is typical as my rapidly failing endowment on an old flat matures in 2013.

If I had a pound for every date the world is supposed to end since I was born I'd have, erm, about a tenner by now.

I think Nostradamus predicted the birth of Chuck Norris and worked out that on the morning of 12th Dec 2012 that Chuck eats a bad Taco, which causes mild stomach gass.
The resultant farrrt is what spins the galaxy out of shape lining up all the various planets and suns and everything is turned inside out. Spelling the end of the milky way and of course, the Earth.

(Chuck obviously survives and decides to build a new milky way).

For the Mayans it's connected with the magnetic field flipping IIRC: BBC article

And maybe when the moon is in the Seventh House, and Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars.
