Two of the best shows ever made are back on TV.

The Sheild, the best police drama ever made (fact) starts tonight at 10:00 on Channel 5, the final season. I can't wait, from what I've heard it's awesome and as such I haven't watched it on the internet so I can get the full big screen surround sound viewing experience.

Prison Break Series 4 is starting across Europe soon (Feb/March, Sky will have it in the UK. I've just finished watching the first half of season 4 on internet and it is excellent, a little far fetched but it always was.

For anyone who has never seen them they are both Fox/FX not HBO shows so less well known in the UK.

The Sheild is superb and can be jumped into anywhere for excellent viewing. The acting is superb with people of Glenn Close & Forset Whittakers calibre playing recurring characters. The Visuals and Sound are miles ahead of any other show on TV. Any man will love Vic Mackey, the ultimate hard man character.

Prison Break is a bit more of a slow burner and surely the only TV show were an Engineer is the hero, if you haven't seen it Series 1 is one of the best drama series ever made, TV perfection, up with Band of Brothers and any of the Sopranos. Completely made by excellent character building and portrayal Robert Knepper as T-Bag - evil but compelling, Wade Williams as Bellick - Hateful yet pathetically sympathetic. It become so unpredictable it never gets dull.

Anywho just some recomendations to the PH masses.

Yeah can't wait until April, seems like a bit of an odd series break. Episode and time wise it's not usual.

The shield was fantastic from series 1 - real edge of the seat stuff at times.

Woah. That's like saying that John Bobbit could fill Jordan.

Uh well if you used your eyes & brain and read my original post instead of trying to an internet tough guy you would have read that I have also seen PB up to episode 16 and have decided not watch The Sheild online as I want to see it on decent TV with decent sound, not on my laptop screen.

I was just recomending some good TV to fellow PH'ers but you had to try and be the big man, but ended up embarrassing yourself.

Now run along before you look even more foolish.

I have no idea what that is and at £250 I can't afford it anyway. Also I have a CRT TV not an LCD so this thing (which I assume puts stuff from your PC onto your TV) may not work.

In the end I still like to sometimes watch a programme at a set time on a weekly basis and make a bit of a regular thing of it, otherwise like with PB series 4 I will sit and watch 16 episodes on 3 days....

I am sure it's alot cheaper than a Sky subscription (assuming shield is on Sky)

What does an LCD cost nowadays? £250

Looks like it's still cheaper than Sky

Once again can I ask that you please read the Original Post, it's not hard. In the Second line I said "The Sheild Starts tonight at 10:00 on Channel 5" so no I don't need Sky.

Secondly LCD TV's for £250 are frankly rubbish, the movement and colour on them are crap, so instead I bought one of the final CRT's for £150. 36' Flat Widscreen, superb pcture quality much better colours, movement and superb in built speakers. I wouldn't have been able to get an LCD or Plasma with equal quality for less than £1200-£1600. It's not all about "Hi-Def"

I'm looking forward to The Shield, great telly. By the way, I think it is on Five US not 5 but I might be wrong there. Five US is a freeview jobbie.

I read somewhere that Prison Break will only return for the final 2 episodes. They've canceled the show as there was nowhere else to take the storyline.

I think it's nice that the OP has waited for the final season of The Shield on TV. It's a fantastic season, you won't be disappointed.

Jamoor - you might want to read posts more carefully chap. wink Also if you have a common or garden PS3, you can also stream to your TV without any further boxes or cost. Java PS3 Media Server will even transcode if you're watching other formats like MKV, WMV, MP4 etc. It also has features to allow you to correct mis-sync'd audio (most commonly a codec issue) by using a different codec and transcoding on the fly. Very clever stuff. As most people have their PS3 already plugged into their screen, there's no hassle at all in setting it up. smile

I've missed out on the whole Prison Break phenomenon, will have to investigate. I also have The Wire to watch. I've only just worked my way through 7 seasons of West Wing.

I'm going for the 'Crowded House' next weekend - 4 seasons in one day.. hehe

Mrs B and B has been eagerly waiting them both. I have less of an attention threshold, but the first series of both shows were, IMHO, exceptional.

PB Series 3 SPOLIERSs Beware!

Was only a half length season due to the writers strike.

Anyway after they end up in Panama at the end of S2, Scofield, Mahone, Bellick and Bagwell get busted by the feralies for various crimes and a are stuck in a prison called sona.
Linc, Sarah, LJ and Sucre are now free in Panama, the company represented by ultimate evil fitty Gretchin kidnaps LJ and Sarah and forces Michael to break out a company guy called Whistler, Gretchin kills Sarah (sic) linc and Sucre help Michael, Whistler and Mahone escape. Bagwell, Bellick and now Sucre are left in Sona.

Linc and LJ stay in Panama, Michael drives off into the distance to avenge Sarahs death.

In between series 3 and 4 Bagwell burns down Sona and Bagwell Bellick and Sucre get out.

It's worth watching, better than Series 2 I thought and quite short and to the point.

never 'got' prison break, but the shield is amazing. personal favourite is the episode in s2 where dutch find the serial killer.

some great acting in the shield. i have yet to watch the wire as i know i'll have to go out and buy all the box sets if i like it.
