The French Riviera in a Citroën DS sounds like a great way to kick things off. The scenery and the classic car should make a good combination. Looking forward to seeing where he heads next!

Looks like there'll be a Maserati in Italy, a Volvo in Sweden, a Jag in the Peak District, a DeLorean in Ireland and an SL in Baden-Württemberg,

Didn’t he once own a Cerbera? You would have thought he might have fancied driving a TVR around one of the old factory test routes around the Trough of Bowland!

Production team probably wanted a car that would make it to the end without breaking down…

"In each episode, Kevin (McCloud of Grand Designs) is handed the keys to an iconic classic vehicle – each one a feat of timeless engineering and aesthetic excellence – to explore a different region with direct links to the model. In France, he travels from Cannes to Monaco, exploring the incredible architecture, art and amazing views on a winding coastal cruise. The Volvo P 1800, immortalised by The Saint, takes Kevin across Sweden’s stunning scenery, arcane archipelagos and idyllic seaside towns. And in Italy, Kevin manoeuvres a magnificent Maserati 3500 GT through the provincial piazzas, medieval hilltop villages and ancient cities.
Further episodes see Kevin explore England’s Peak District in a Jaguar Mk2; traverse Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coastal Route in a DeLorean MC12; and visit modernist masterpieces in Baden-Württemberg, one of Germany’s most creative regions, in a classic Mercedes SL."

I like grand designs - curious as to how he will work out with a different subject.

No doubt there'll be jeopardy built in like," Will the fuel last to the end of the journey", "the dealer has supplied the wrong spark plugs and can't get any more"

The owners of the cars can’t use them currently as they’ve unaccountably become pregnant scratchchin

Torcal and Petunia Simpering-Idiot run an organic yogurt knitting retreat in rural Sussex. They’ve borrowed 50 thousand pounds from Petunia’s Great Aunt Gertrude so they can invest in this simply stunning Mk2 Jaguar that’s going to take me on my tour.

The car is in need of some minor work which was going to be completed before the trip but Petunia is pregnant with triplets and Torcal has had to take on a job as the night security at a local Alpaca and Donkey wellness centre to keep enough money coming in, which means he hasn’t been able to finalise the purchase of the necessary parts from the Estonian artisan iron foundry he found through a Facebook group dedicated to carbon neutral bee keeping.

Torcal assures me the car is more than up to the task so let’s find out shall we?
