Hosted by Ed Gamble, Unacceptable sees two competing teams of comedians battle it out to convince a live studio audience of their most outrageous views.
Each week team captains Richard Ayoade and Joanne McNally welcome a star-studded line-up of guest-comedians onto the show to give their daft, niche, unwise or unacceptable opinions that the whole team must then defend. Using a live 'swingometer' to track how many audience members they win over with their razor-sharp wit and persuasive punchlines, each team will battle to outdo the other and secure the unwavering support of the studio crowd. Expect outrageous views, put to the test by Ed Gamble who will introduce a series of challenges to force the teams to practice what they preach.

I was watching football so even though it seemed to be on 3 freeview channels at the same time (TLC, Really and Quest), I didnt see it.
I was optimistic, see above, but it did get a terrible review in The Guardian.

Even though I liked the preview I think I get their point. Whilst the point of the debate is to be funny are we really supposed to believe the statements? Can it be funny if we know it isn't true?

I'm open minded after watching the first one. For me, the only bad bit about it was that I'd seen some bits of it in the preview which rather spoilt the flow. And whilst I do have the reservation with regards what's real and what's simply made up for the show that didn't really spoil it. And that's much the same in all other comedy game shows. Plus, there was a good bit near the end about vasectomy with the father and son from the audience.

Interesting point. I'm a big fan of "Would I lie to you" and I'm sure there's a lot of embellishment or even just fiction in there (and I don't mean the lies!) It's still very funny. I remember a lie when Lee Mack read out the most ridiculous lie about milking cows and he basically acted out the whole thing. Everyone knew it was a ridiculous lie but it was really funny
So yea I think it can be funny still but only when in the right context, situation and delivery. If it's trying too hard or by weaker comedians than maybe not
