Just finished watching this on BBC iPlayer and it’s a strong 8.5/10 for me. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Josh Finan as Dan is outstanding and it’s an accomplished and genuinely believable performance a total contrast for those that know him as a sketty druggy scouser in his role as Marco in ‘The Responder’..

The final episode is quite moving as you find yourself trying to guess which way his life is going to turn.

‘Waiting for the Out premiered on BBC One on January 3, 2026, and is currently available for streaming in its entirety on BBC iPlayer. This six-part drama follows the life of a philosophy teacher working within the British prison system while navigating his own complex family history of incarceration and mental health struggles’

I watched the first episode, didn't really fancy it and decided I wasn't going to watch any more.

Stumbled upon this thread this morning and based on the positive feedback I thought I would give it another go. I've now watched 3 episodes and I'm glad I did, it is very good.

Thanks for the prompt.

We're three episodes into this now.
Dunno why we're so invested. Not sure where it's going but it certainly has us hooked.
Dan's character is so good. The torment in his OCD head is tangible, almost. He's an excellent actor.

His dad was a right tt!

7.9 on iMDB. Well worth each point.

I’m three episodes in too. The sense of impending doom is horrible, seems ingrained into him. Gripping stuff.

Glad you enjoyed it…..a bit of a slow burner but I thought the lead actor’s performance was exceptional..
