War of the Worlds (2025) Amazon Prime

Just sat through this dirgepile and I wasn’t even stoned.
I definitely should’ve been, as that’s the demographic they are clearly targeting.
Easily the worst film I have watched for a long while and strangely, felt compelled to finish it.
It was entertaining though. Textbook “hang on if we do that won’t that create another plot hole?”
“Fukkit, who cares”

Watching it now. Zero brain capacity required!
Objectively it's terrible. You can tell it was made on the cheap by the fact that there's only one real set and the CGI effects look like I did them - the lightning at the beginning forking both in front of and behind a tree was an early sign that this was not going to be a James Cameron masterpiece...

I really can't believe the comments here - this is the sing best thing I've ever seen on Amazon Prime. This one film alone has been worth my membership.
It's a 10/10 for me. The acting, the special effects. It all had me hooked from the beginning.
What kind of people fail to appreciate a production of this quality???
Just kidding - it was utter s
te!!!!
It's not even - it's so bad it's good.

It was all the little continuity details I enjoyed nitpicking, like a driving theory test but for film/media students. Their house has been destroyed and is on fire but a clear statement is made that there are no emergency services available to assist… meanwhile the ‘drone’ view of the burning house clearly shows water from hoses being enthusiastically deployed. It was hilariously bad… but I also watched it to the end.
Actually surprised there has not been more adaptations of HG Wells stuff with the copyright expiring a number of years ago. There was the two versions of this about six years ago, the one from the BBC and the other one with Gabriel Byrne and Daisy Edgar Jones which I thought was great but I guess it is free for anybody to give it a go if now. Think I will give this one a miss
