It was OK. Didn't talk down to the viewer. My concern is they're VW specialists - I hope they vary the marques each episode.

I watched it, enjoyed it too. I’d never heard of that rust paint either which looked interesting. Funnily, I missed the first ten minutes, so pressed the green button to watch from the beginning, it duly started recording and…no ads! Never known this before, usually the amount of brain rotting adverts make these shows nearly unwatchable.

Not sure I've heard such dull commentary in a while, he made it more boring that it was. Was on a par with Jo Brand on another car/resto programme, was it a Henry Cole one?

I liked what they did with it, but wish they'd have showed us more of it and the split screens at the show. I will watch next weeks one.

Just watched episode 2, a Lamborghini Espada no less: I couldn’t help thinking of Iain Tyrrell when it appeared and lo and behold he cropped up part way in, being called upon to sort out the engine, believe it or not V12 Lambo engines aren’t cheap nor easy to fix. The car did look 70s tastic when done though.

Watched the Beetle and Espada episodes last night and quite enjoyed them both to be honest. Nice relaxing car telly, not shouty or gimmicky and the results of both of them looked pretty good.

Not bad. smile

Bill Bailey I think. Really enjoying it, no false jeopardy, no filler (apart from the body sort), one of the better programmes of its type. I’ve just watched the Daimler coupe episode, similar to Harry’s, very nice though the owner did go down the resto mod route with the wheels and tyres, not sure about them. Big operation too.

Pleasantly surprised by this, as said no false jeapordy BS and a likeable down to earth bunch. Great job on the Espada especially, dread to think of the bill though!

I thought that too, refreshingly bs free.

Watched the first 3 and really good, nothing hugely new but really interesting. Lots of skills and nice to see Ian Tyrell and his workshop
Note they do not really mention money/costs etc and that is pretty refreshing...

Got the last one to watch this evening (Jag or Daimler XJC).

With the Beetle and 911, I do wonder if the 'patina' fad will last the test of time and if people will tire of 'artificial' age.

A good little series. smile

Yes, I thought exactly the same thing.

Pretty decent watch. The proof will be if they do a second series. I would have thought this was filmed over many many months with multiple projects on the go at the same time . Not a quick CAR SOS 3 week resto style blow over.

I have watched the Beetle and Espada episodes and that was enough for me, not sure why but just found it boring in places also I am not sure I would trust an Espada resto to a Volkswagen specialist

Interesting to hear them say only 5 left on the road in the UK as I cannot see that is right

They were also wrong in some respects in saying it was a monocoque in fact they were a semi monocoque and the chassis were sent to Bertone who added bodywork, paint and trim prior to final assembly at the Lamborghini factory.

I’m enjoying this. A lot better than I thought it’d be. Standard of work looks to be VG.
