Just watched the first two episodes and can honestly say it’s the funniest telly show I’ve seen for a LONG time. 10 fine funny people in big brother style house for just 6 hours mustn’t smile or laugh….lf they do they’re eliminated….last man/woman standing wins. If you like 8/10 Cats do Countdown etc you’ll love it. Most of the comics have been on that show too, think Mortimer, Lycett, Adawade, Wilkinson, Beckett etc. I also found myself trying not to laugh when watching it, it’s very difficult.

I thought all the Jimmy Carr “presenting” stuff was awful. I think it would have been funnier if they were left to their own devices rather than him getting involved all the time.My wife however, thought that’s what made it funnier so I guess it depends what you’re into.

A lot of it it felt forced, but some of it was brilliant - Mortimer and Ayoade exchanges particularly. The long biscuit/arms dealer bit had me in tears.

I got about three episodes in then packed in. Was a great idea to start with then lost the novelty very quickly I thought.
I thought this at about the same point...thought it was forced and would fall flat as they tried to win.Episode 4 was funny though, and it picked up from there
I really enjoyed it. As a switch-brain-off show it was good.
Some bits I found absolutely hilarious, and I guess the style of show means you get to see some of the bits that comedians normally filter out of their shows early on when testing things.
Joe Wilkinson's second "thing" with the drawings I thought was absolutely brilliant. (and his first one too)
Bob Mortimer generally was showing how funny he just naturally is.
The final joke I still smile at when I remember it.

This, exactly. Coupled with the fact that Carr is essentially what an AI engine would cough out if you typed in 'narcissist' and 'unfunny', and you have what the forthcoming Sky version of SNL will be like (most probably). It simply serves to highlight what a treasure Bob is (still, all these years) and how hackneyed the rest of the current comedy establishment are (with potential hall passes for Richard Ayoade and Lou Sanders)

We've watched them all now and it could have been cut down to an hour (or less) and been a good program. As it was, there was just too much of it that wasn't funny in between the comedy moments.
In reality they could save most of their budget and just film Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade sat at a table trying to make each other laugh and it would have been much, much better.

I mentioned on another thread recently, the first time I saw Jimmy Carr, he was the 'warm-up man' for the studio audience at a sitcom filming at Teddington Studios in the early 2000s. His job was to get the audience in a jolly mood and entertain us while new scenes were being set up. He was absolutely useless, seemed to prefer picking arguments with members of the audience or insulting where they were from.
Thought it was the funniest thing we've seen in ages. How can the question "Have you got a kitchen island?" be funny... but somehow it was hilarious.
Fun fact... the guy in the Stars in Your Eyes skit I know (the one drawing willies and boobs). He's called Tim. He's one of the actors I use on some of the stuff I make. He said that the show is exactly as you see it. Nothing's staged, they have no secret laughter breaks. Was as hilarious on set as it is on screen.

I saw Jimmy Carr live years ago and his live show is far better than what he does on TV, TV is quite toned down, but I do agree he is an acquired taste.
I've seen Vic & Bob many times over the years and also bumped into them both in a HMV browsing records, both great to chat to.
Bob is a comedy genius and whether he is with Jim (Vic) or on something like Would I lie to you it's always comedy gold, Bob & Richard is another level, in fact I watched the highlights of the travelman episode only this morning.
They would make a good double act and something I would hope a TV production would see and bring together.
Back to the show though, great concept but didn't deliver as one would hope. Maybe they should have spun it the other way and it was about who made them laugh the most, rather than disqualify them for laughing, I'm sure that would have made it flow better.
