I know what you mean, I saw an episode with a woman from York who couldn't challenge a sack of spuds in the brains race.

Half the time I am thinking, would I really buy a new shirt for this.

I presume like all the women on that show.

She was only appearing because she wanted to kickstart a tv career.

And used the immortal line "no spark" at the end when the guy had said he'd like to see her again

hehe

I read an article a while ago about it from a guy who went on. They'd "matched" him with someone politically opposite to him "for the drama"

There was a time many years ago I considered applying. Apparently there's something like 1000 women to 1 guy on the waiting lists. I'm glad I didnt!

I recall a woman on the show who came across really nice - seemed really down to earth, proper settling down and living happily ever after material and even had me thinking "blimey, I'll offer myself up if it doesn't work out for her". Told a story of being unlucky in love which was totally at odds with the smile and sparkle that she exuded. The guy didn't feel it in the end and she appeared on another episode some time later, like there was a big "here's the amazing girl who's inexplicably unlucky in love here to have another go" story. Anyway, after the second appearance it took me about two minutes of Googling to discover she was some kind of serial TV show appearer. Totally blew the facade for me. Take the whole thing with a very large pinch of salt now.

I can't find the usual thread on this topic.

Anyhow, last night there was a racing driver on the show. His name was Johnny, 54 y.o. and from Ascot. He reckoned he won at Daytona and Le Mans and had raced all over the world. It could be he competed in GT3 or similar I suppose. Anyone know who he is ?

Thanks. Makes sense. Glad he wasn't a Walt - his date wasn't too shabby either.

Quite a CV. She was very high maintenance for sure. But matching hair dye.

Wife's aunt was on "First Dates Ireland" a couple of years ago, was a bit surreal seeing someone you know on a TV show. Her and the bloke they matched her with stayed friends afterwards until she died recently.

We googled him too and, once you've got past the Johnny Herbert, the Jonny Adam, and the Johnny Dumfries (RIP) pages, it was quite an eye opener to read his list of achievements... qualifies for the 'top-of-his-sport professional that you've never heard of' award. Goes to show how little exposure sportscars get compared to F1. Came across as a decent fella, too.
