If you mean the "That Was Then........" Janet Street Porter programme it was a shock to see Robert Smith didnt come fully formed with the Robert Smith fright-wig and lipstick image right from the start. And I say that as a 59 year old that used to listen to them on the John Peel show from the start and saw them live in the mid 80s. His image now leaves such an impression it's clearly blurred my memory. In the first clip he had a bit of a Sean Ryder/Madchester haircut and in the second a bit like Terry Hall. Perhaps those clips were also shown in other programmes.

I recorded their performance from Glastonbury a few years back, which I think was repeated last night, and was very disappointed that for a headline act they seemed to do all slow songs. I'm not that familiar with their stuff, other than the popular songs, so maybe it's me that was wrong, I just though that to close a night (and maybe the weekend, I forget which night they were on) something a bit more upbeat might have been better.

Really enjoyed the set.

However, I struggled with 60 year old blokes in scary makeup.

I know it was their thing back in the day, but I found it a bit distracting.

Like all these bands from my youth, The Cure, Depeche Mode and Blur the rule should be "Don't play anything after 1999.

Nobody wants to hear any of the new stuff.

Normally I'd say that I dont want to hear old people play anything whether it's new or old. Old people on stage just don't do it for me either way. Pop/rock music is for young people.

But I actually like The Cure's new stuff and would much rather hear them play that than oldies. I can hear them properly on-line.

Everyone should of course be free to play what they want and enjoy what they want. I just think that old people playing stuff they originally did 40 years ago doesnt appeal to me. That's just me though.

Edited to add that I did see The Buzzcocks and Howard Devoto in 2012 though and really enjoyed it.

The Cure and Pixies are 2 bands that just never seem to age in terms of their music.
