What do you reckon? Will it be the turning point for Marvel or another stinker?

I think be a flop
It’s bit niche and not sure if it fits in the bigger marvel verse

If YouTube is to be believed, Disney are already blaming Critical Drinker for it having flopped.

The reviews I've read all sound like it's very meh or wildly 'best thing eva'.

They blamed him for The Acolyte as well.

It's a niche of a niche. A spinoff of a spinoff. Secret Invasion already tested that water and failed miserably, but this was already well into production before the reality of that flop hit home.

There's almost zero investment in the characters, and the idea that you can graft a minority audience onto the existing huge one by pandering to the minority has already been debunked by The Marvels and Echo.

This is destined to tank.

Sums it up perfectly, only the most hardcore Marvel fans even know who the main character is.

It's a good point, they've done the right thing with the release window (close to Halloween) and from the trailers they're obviously trying to tap into that market for new viewers. Aubrey Plaza is a big name to have as well.

I'm open-minded but my expectations are very low. It has the same writer/creator as Wandavision so from that perspective I might enjoy it, but the whole thing from the trailers looks like a massive side quest that could have been done in two eps rather than 9. Who knows though, they've really not shown a lot in the trailers. I think I'll have made my mind up in the first few eps depending on the tone but as long as it's original and engaging I'll be watching.

The Guardian critic loves it but the Times is less complimentary.

I’m stuck in a foreign hotel tonight so might give it a watch and report back. Taking one for the team if you like.

Considering how the series has been promoted is anyone surprised? It ticks the 'brave and stunning' boxes which instantly elevates it beyond any criticism for poor writing/acting/direction etc. in some circles.

It looks like it might be a perfectly acceptable comedy, but once again why the cynical association with the Marvel IP when it seems to have the most tenuous links to the Marvel universe?

Well, we know the answer....

I watched the first two this lunchtime. I was only intending to watch one which probably tells you all you need to know.

I was expecting it to be a new Agatha Christie drama, so was a bit disappointed to be honest.

Watched the first couple of episodes. Spin off from Wandavision if you where not aware. If you are a fan of all things marvel (which I am) thought it was pretty good. Does not take itself too seriously, some fun elements to it. Interested too see where it goes.

More slop for the Marvel marks. They'll consume anything these days, it seems.

Watched the first two eps and I really enjoyed it. Well, what I mean is I'm engaged with it! It's a bit early to say how good it is but I had a few laughs, I like the tone so far with the various little mysteries we've got. The characters seem individual enough so far.

It's much better than the start of the last few series from Marvel (Secret Invasion especially).

I'd be keen to hear some detail from those that didn't like it? What was it specifically you didn't like? The script is well written, the main plot already well established with a few side plots to come. Visuals felt very Raimi esque at times with no over the top CGI. Can't see much to complain about really.

4 episodes in, and I'm enjoying this. Wasn't sure about the first episode, but knowing what Wandavision started off like and how much I enjoyed that, I gave this a chance.

Also amazed at how good Katherine Hahn looks, and have a thing for Aubrey Plaza since watching Legion
