We watched the first episode last night. It probably veered a little too much on the side of buffoonery for my liking.

I was hoping for something like a modern day Jonathan Creek but this was nothing like as witty or clever. You couldn't even have a go at solving the murder.

We'll give the second episode a try - hopefully it will improve now the characters are established.

I watched #1 last night too.

You're right, not as witty as Creek but I enjoyed it and found myself laughing more than I expected.

Its very much David Mitchell playing David Mitchell. I'll certainly keep watching though.

Yes, no surprises in his character at all but seemed fine for us to pass an hour.

Found it tough going when he overdid the akwardness, but him reading the name out made up for it all.
Same old loophole finding by the bbc. If he had had a stammer and they did 1 hr of it they would be in trouble.

Anna speaks so poorly, subtitles are needed but, sadly, not available.

Watched the first one after seeing a review comparing it to Morse. I assume they meant crosswords and a university city, as it isn't a patch on Morse. Seems watchable enough though.

I've watched all six episodes and it was an enjoyable enough way to spend the time. One annoyance though was that the last episode doesn't wrap things up but rather is just a heavy hint about a series 2

We had subtitles too. It's a puzzle.

We quite enjoyed it, but I did think that there were a lot of “similarities” with Professor T from ITV.

It's OK, I'd rather have Anna back in new eps of Motherland, BBC dumped it for some reason.

We watched the 2nd one last night and have agreed to put the rest of them on the back burner and look for something else. In reality that means we’ll probably never watch any more of them.

Alan: Right, OK. ‘Shoestring’, ‘Taggart’, ‘Spender’, ‘Bergerac’, ‘Morse’. What does that say to you about regional detective series’?
Tony: There’s too many of them?

Not to mention 'Vera', 'Whitstable Pearl', 'The Marlow Murder Club'...
