Now, understand, Commander, that torpedo did not self-destruct. You heard it hit the hull. And I...

[showing him his identification]

... was never here.

What a voice. Sad loss.

What a legend. Looking through his acting credits I'd forgotten how much he'd been in.

Also remember being rather surprised when he cropped up in C&C Tiberium Sun.

RIP

What a majestic talent he will forever be. As much as I love Star Wars, loved him in Field Of Dreams.

Also deserves to be remembered as the inspiration for one of the best Dad jokes ever.

DV: 'Luke - I know what you are getting for Christmas'

LS: 'But how, Lord Vader?'

DV 'Because I have felt your presents'.

Sad to hear his passing, he was a great actor. Was in one of my favourite martial arts movies “Best of the best”.

An unmistakable voice! RIP

David Prowse found out at the uk premier of A New Hope that he had been dubbed, he was not a happy chappie.

Carrie Fishers Mother called George Lucas and moaned at him for putting Carrie in economy class on the flight over from USA to the UK for the uk premier of A New Hope.

The first film was simply called Star Wars, not a new hope, certainly at the time Dave Prowse found out Darth Vader wouldn't have a Bristol accent and carrie Fisher was moaning about flying cattle class.

First of I had put the first star wars film I would have got David Prowes wasn't in Episode 1 etc. David Prowse did a book signing tour around 12-13 years ago, as his driver we got to chat about a lot of things including how he found he had been dubbed and Carries mothers moaning at George.

“To die, to sleep – to sleep, perchance to dream – ay, there's the rub, for in this sleep of death what dreams may come…”

It's a pity he's remembered for a horse opera in space rather than his extensive theatre work.

I think if he was only remembered for Star Wars, that alone would be a fantastic legacy.
