I've not seen a thread on this but it looks like the summer blockbuster for this year.

I loved the original movie with Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt.

Trailer:

It also features a cameo by James Paxton - Son of the late Bill Paxton.

How they call it a sequel I don't know. The plot looks identical to the original.

Jaws 2 says hello.

Anyway, I’ll be watching this on Friday on a huge screen. Looks like fun

Watched this earlier today and while it is a stand alone movie it has some nice nods to the original.

Saw it on a (proper) IMAX screen this afternoon.

Its fine.

Script could have been written by AI and is utterly predictable, but it is reasonably well delivered and put together. However if you have seen the trailer you have basically seen the film.

The only surprise was the only English actor wasn't the bad guy.

7 squalls out of 10.

Loved Twister - it remains my favourite disaster movie so went to see Twisters last night. Certainly an enjoyable summer blockbuster, but despite strong performances from the cast it still lacks that certain charm of the original. It also requires a lot of suspension of belief like Twister does, and lets be honest pretty much every action/disaster movie as the protagonists survive multiple close calls. Tonnes of Easter eggs and some proper storm chasing/meteorology terms used. There are far more deaths in this one too if your taking the kids.

A high end EF3 / low EF4 rating from me. Might upgrade to EF4 after a second watch.

Saw it at the weekend - great summer blockbuster flick if you ask me. Lots of fun and some gripping sequences. Daisy Edgar-Jones is superb too

Saw it with the family today to get out of the heat, good cinema film. Eldest rated it above Deadpool and Wolverine.

Quite looking forward to seeing this

I loved the Vah Halen music in the original, such a shame it won't be in the sequel

Honestly, just another sign that the Hollywood movie business is on life support. Not a single original thought, totally dependent upon CGI effects, just a cash grab.

Interestingly I thought it was epic s**t.
It was as if they read the pitch meeting from the first film and just did exactly the same thing.
I felt like someone had just served me pizza base - none of the original cheese or interesting bits that made the first one what it was.

First one was great this one was utter cr@p.

Glad others liked it though.

It'd probably be against health and safety if the actually filmed during a real tornado.
