New trailer just out...

Interesting choice of music.

Are you not entertained? (judging by the downvote ratio, seemingly not).

I’m a massive fan of the original and whilst I will go watch this I already have my doubts; riding trained fighting rhinos, sharks in the colosseum (I do however appreciate they did in fact flood it for a fake naval battle), music score, casting, storyline.

It will either be epic or total floppy pants hehe

It won't be as good as the original.

Why do they insist on remaking films that were good in the first place.

The sequel we didn’t need. Looks ridiculously over the top and packed with unconvincing CGI - the original was a classic of modern cinema I think this will be forgotten within 2 years.

Major red flags:

-Showing footage from 1st film
-Showing all the "best bits" from 3 different fight scenes
-No Han's Zimmer sound track.

Its edited like a trailer for a TV show, yuk! - Possibly the most pointless sequel imagiable.

It will try and fail to bring the best of the first into play. It will try and fail to be anywhere near as good. I'll still watch it.

I enjoyed the first film because it was very loosely based on real (ish) characters and some real events. The sequel looks a bit 'swords and sandals'. Will wait for a streaming release.

It's not a remake. I don't think it needs to be as good as the original, it just needs to be a good film.

Trailer looks OK to me, certainly will be giving it a go.

I was going to say the same.

The production values look OK, but already it looks a bit hokey to me and the use of Rap music? Really...?

I really enjoyed the first film, but it didn't need a sequel or (worse) a remake.

I'll wait for it to hit Netflix, I think.

Gladiator was a Ridley Scott masterpiece. Not his first, but probably his last.
Recent films suggest he isn't capable of recapturing his past glory.

I don't have high hopes. But I wouldn't dismiss it based on the trailer. For example, the trailer music might not even feature in the actual film.

It's going to be ste. Might squeeze a few decent action sequences in but that's the best we can hope for.

Cor PH really is a bunch of moaners isn't it rofl I've never seen so many people complain about things that aren't even out yet, it's the same as the F1 film thread. Everyone already knows exactly what a thing will be like from the 90 seconds they've seen already.

Allow me to add some positivity and be a little "glass half full":

- Zimmer didn't want to do the score as he was happy with what he'd done on Gladiator. He's a busy man, he felt it was done well enough the first time and too much time had passed (unlike Dune Part 1/2 where he just carried on composing almost). The guy who's doing the score has worked with Scott loads so he's well-known to him and he'll get what he wants out of it.

- Never seen so many people have an issue with rap music in a trailer rofl I thought it worked well for the trailer, we're obviously not going to get it in the film itself.

- The CGI always looks dodgy on YouTube due to the compression, same with Furiosa. It will look fine in the film. There was a Rhino scene planned for the first one if I remember correctly but they couldn't do it properly so cut it.

- Flooded Colloseum is a massive win, this is something else that's historically accurate and amazing to see. (the sharks are a stretch I admit but whatever).

- It's not a remake, it's directly linked to the first one and continues the story. The talent in the cast is pretty spectacular so I'm excited to see what they do. Denzel is just being Denzel in the same way that Reed was being Reed let's be honest. No one had an issue with that.

- Overall I think the production design looks fantastic. The world pops with colour and opulence whilst looking gritty and rough where it needs to. The original is 25 years old so much like Top Gun Maverick there will be a lot of people for who the original was a big deal and will want to see another instalment. It also needs to appeal to a new audience who never saw the original.

Yes, it's another sequel but it's one I'll certainly be showing up for in the cinema opening week and I'd be shocked if I don't have a good time with it.
