Admittedly my knowledge of inter war expressionist cinema is pretty limited, but the original is still a fascinating watch. There's something otherworldly about it, not just because it looks nothing like modern films, but that everyone involved is long dead. So yes, looking forward to this one durbster said:

I'm a massive Eggers fan though. Thee were rumours he is/was going to do a limited series on Rasputin - now that would be superb done in his trademark style. And even better if he threw a curveball by having Boney M play when the end credits roll
