YouTube comment censorship - ramped up
Discussion
It's the publishers of the content that are censoring comments, not You Tube itself (though they will act in some cases).
I run my own channel and look after those of clients and am often having to sift through comments. Constructive, well articulated criticism or a well reasoned critique will generally remain. Random 'What's all this bks about?' tends to get deleted.
If we are publishing something important that we will know will attract unnecessary commentary, we disable the ability to comment.

Not necessarily actively doing so - you can set the moderation to "strict" and it'll bin off a lot more stuff into "held for review" - which some people don't even bother checking and just leave to rot (because about 90% of it deserves to) I run my own channel and look after those of clients and am often having to sift through comments.
