I missed the anniversary release of the original Trilogy as our local independent and nearby cgaun cinemas weren't showing them.

Fortunately our local indy is getting Episode 1 in.

Remember wueung to buy the ticket at midnight in 1999 Aberdeen Virgin Multiplex, then dressed up as Darth Maul for the showing I got (only 1 other dressed up for it lol) it never lived up ro the hype (it couldnt) but its still very well made.

What with the dearth of quality SW in recent times, it'll be nice to enjoy seeing the pod race and maul/kenobi lightsaber duel on big screen again.

Why would you the film was the biggest disappointment I've ever seen, probably the worst film I've ever seen. + Jar Jar

I remember people going to the cinemas for other movies and walking out after the trailer was shown for it.... One shouted 7 times as he left

My how they, like me, was utterly broken , then we got the next one, and the next one...... Padme died of a broken heart....awwww.... That's why Darth became the most evil thing in the galaxy....

Only watchable one was Rogue One IMO.

There hasn't been a good Star Wars film since the very first one was re-named as SW - A New Hope, Episode IV and they added new scenes and changed others.

I wouldn't say no the middle and last one of that trilogy on the big screen. I wouldn't pay to sit through number 1.

Whatever their flaws are, at least there was an overall arc and vision that it fulfilled.

Most of the ones that came after reminded me of this.

Yes the majority of the problem was it wanted 3 things into 1, kiddy adventure for new kids, but then the dark side of turning anakin for older gens , and then shoe horn in how the emperor came to power using senate, trade federation, separatists, clones, dooku, grievous, etc etc.
To be honest I think it could have existed as a 4 season TV series as a much better entity..... Given decent writing of course, something we now know is not Lucas strong point.....

I think the biggest issue is that Star wars had such amazing potential to be the biggest thing ever seen in story telling history as it inspired so much fantastic books, ideas, people, people in the industry, imaginations, and everyone as a whole, .......but with one or two exceptions, it's descended into undirected chaos causing hatred and fractions as the money mining continues

I always liked the Ep1. film, it’s a good jaunt. I don’t consider JJB to be world ending.
I loved going to the midnight show when it was released, the atmosphere was superb. I don’t recall anyone hating it when we came out either.
The last 3 were ok apart from the middle one obvs which was rubbish l.

I saw it at the cinema when it came out. The pod racing bit was cool on the big screen, but the rest was meh. I didn’t bother with the other two prequels with the sulky teenage Darth.

Same with the sequels. I watched the first at the cinema and didn’t bother with the others. I hear I didn’t miss anything. Of the spin offs, I watched Solo only because it was available on a flight. I hear Rogue One is decent, but its Blu Ray case has a more important role as a drinks coaster right now.

The cgi has really aged, unless they've remastered it but last time I watched it the cgi was awful.

I stuggle watching episode 4 now, just feels so slow. ESB and ROTJ are okay.

I'm one of the few who liked episodes 1, 2 and 3. I liked how they showed the republic gradually becoming the Senate. Episode 3 is one of my favorites, with ESB.

However, 7, 8 and 8 were utter ****. They're the only films in my life I've never rewatched (along with Jurassic 5).

Rogue One was good! I also liked Andor.

Episode 7 was a literal rip-off of episode 4.

I should say its not my fave Star Wars by far, its just a bit of fun as I don't get out a lot with the 4 year old at home and staying far from a lot of my old mates now.

I missed out on the OG re releases so this is all there is as Star Wars in Cinema screen to see.

My fave SW films are the OT and Rogue 1 al9ng with Revenge of the sith, then it's a sliding scale from Ep1..then a loooonnnnggg way down to Sequals which are just...just awful.

Jar jar is a pain, but I like Maul and final battle

I had a couple of friends who were massive Star Wars fans who went to see it on the opening night, when they came into college the next day their reaction was “well it was better than Jedi” (ie Return of the Jedi).
Not sure he would still say that!

I thought when it came out that it wasn’t great but after the sequels it has gone up in my estimation.

In the pod race, Anakins used Fiat Uno switchgear. That was the best bit of the film.
