Is this the continuation of the story arc from Ghostbusters Afterlife or is this a completely separate thing ?

Edit: answering my own question, via Wikipedia - yes it's the sequel to Ghostbusters Afterlife.

I hate these films with some sort of frozen fantasy backdrop. I reckon its an easy special effect to do.
Im ok with genuine frozen wilderness films.

Did I see Kate McKinnon in the trailer? She was in the awful female reboot.

Anyway, I'd have to watch the end of the last one first.

Yep. I'll go with that. Looks pretty good to me. I enjoyed Afterlife. It didn't take itself too seriously and wasn't far removed from the original.

Ghostbusters was the first film I saw in the Cinema - The Roxy in Hollinwood - so I've always had a soft spot for it. (Less said about the third one, the better though!)

There is a third trailer that seems a little less corny.

I'm sold regardless tbh, I love Ghostbusters.

Looks like they’re trying to stuff as many references in as possible. Can’t wait!

Watched it today at my local cinema, no spoilers here but I was little disappointed in this one. I am a BIG Ghostbusters fan having been 10 when it first came out in 1984, I really enjoyed Afterlife and was hoping that this would carry on in the same vein.

However, this is a bit of a mess, too many storylines and feels very sluggish around the hour mark. The trailers don't really correspond to the actual film and present something that feels quite action packed where the Ghostbusters have to save the world again, the reality is that it is only in the final third when the main villain comes to play.

Great to see Ecto1 running around the streets of NY and some new toys come out to play but overall I can't see me rushing back to re-watch it. Afterlife I enjoyed it so much that I bought a ticket for the very next showing and watched it back to back twice, this one not so much. 6/10

I saw it on Thursday and agree with your comments. I gave it 7/10.

It didn’t have the same feel as Afterlife - like they spent too long introducing the newer characters.

7 / 10 from me too, most of the film is good fun but there's an awful lot of exposition of people talking about gods, ghosts, etc. that just doesn't need to be in there.

Red Letter Media has done a video on it, the first 5 minutes covers most of it.

More fun than they were expecting.

I saw it on Saturday as my children wanted to see it and I was expecting it to be rubbish. I actually quite enjoyed it, just the right amount of references back to the original for middle aged men like me. I was worried the children in the film would ruin it for me, but they just about managed to stop this from happening.

A solid 8 out of 10 from me.

If we're marking it out of ten, I'll give it a very generous 6. Too many people, too much exposition, and just not funny.

Both myself and the wife enjoyed Afterlife, are we likely to enjoy this?
