In this case I'm thinking of the ex-footballer Jill Scott.

Wins the Euros, retires and suddenly she's on so many TV shows. Just seen an ad for a League of their Own special that she's on, I know she won I'm a Celeb, and there's definitely been a few other things I've flicked over and seen her on.

What is it about a certain person that suddenly gets them booked to be on everything? She's not the only footballer who retired after the Euros, but she seems to be the only one who is everywhere right now.

There are probably plenty of other cases of people just suddenly showing up on every panel show, gameshow etc.....

IIRC, I think Jill has done OK out of football but is certainly not in a position to retire. She has a coffee shop in Manchester that she runs with her partner.

So, most likely scenario is that she's looking to cash in on the Euros popularity and rise in women's football in general so has told her agent to get her on anything she can (within reason) to raise her profile.

People in a stronger financial position, with regular media contracts, a longer media 'window' and/or with more business interests are less accessible/more choosy about what they do, hence you perhaps don't see them as much.

It’s the I’m a Celeb window of opportunity. She gets about 10 months in the spotlight from that and has to maximise her income from it. Other celeb shows have similar windows, such as Bill Bailey when he won Strictly.

There are others who suddenly explode on to TV, or the public consciousness. Laura Woods who was a bit part onfield interviewer for Sky PL coverage is now everywhere. Daily show on TalkSport, anchors ITV football a lot and a hot property for the revamped But Sport coverage, or Amazon CL football in 2024. I don’t mind much though as she is more than slightly pleasing on the eye and a voice that’s just epic boxedin

There’s usually a new trendy comedian, who will be on every game show for a year or two until people realise they are spectacularly unfunny. See Sarah Millican or Russell whatshisface.

I guess a lot depends on their agents, too. Are they well-connected, hard-working, persistent etc.

A vote here for Gary Neville. Obviously went into punditry after football. Always popping up on sports quiz shows.

Now his podcast has been made into a TV show - The Overlap on Tour (actually very funny).

Next stop - Dragons Den!

You see the same with actors.

All these entertainment tarts are very clicky and it's about who you know and who is currently "in fashion".

A good list. That Rob Beckett gets everywhere and I can't think why. No talent that I can see.

I agree about Rylan, he gets a lot of stick but he's a good presenter, very professional.

Agent, availability and price.

A good agent can get you lots of exposure, providing the price is right and the ‘fit’ works.

Lots of people start their media careers as makeweights on other deals where an agent is looking for an in with a particular production company.
All about taking opportunities when offered and *really importantly* not ballsing it all up by being an unworkable diva.

You could put an addendum to the thread of people who used to be and disappeared without trace.
Word gets out, and agents don’t want to represent them. Game over.

It's down to the agent.

Someone remarked a while ago about how the "same" guests were always turning up on the various panel shows and it was down to them all coming from the same agency. TV is very incestuous.

For me it was Idris Elba.
One day never heard of him, next day on every talk show, TV, forums, news papers etc.
Only film I have ever watched with him in is Pacific Rim
