Apple TV’s Hijack with Idris Elba
Discussion
First two episodes today, third next week but I don’t see anything after that if it’s only three episodes long why not just release them all at once?
Six hour flight, wonder if they’re doing it real time? Some potential threads, paths to go down and the usual questions at this stage. Will watch Episode 2 later or tomorrow.

Saw an interview the other day, can't remember which star of that show it was, but remember them saying it will be in real time so fairly sure more than 3. Just watched the first episode, enjoyed it and strapping myself in for the rest.
I went to school with the lass that was script coordinator on this show and have been well aware through her social media that this show was in the making. Drip fed little nuggets here and there over the last year or so but she told me to listen out for the theme tune and I am impressed that it is 'Lonely Soul' by U.N.K.L.E. Several years ago she was working, unknowingly, alongside James Lavelle and ended up with a fair bit of merch and she posted some of it to me as I am a fan. If she had some influence over the theme song choice then I am mega impressed but it is great to see someone from school, 20+ years ago, doing so well.

I remember her describing this as being a bit of a challenge script-wise.undred orse said:
Seems an episode a week now. The first few were enjoyable except for the usual Eve Myles OTT aggressive but caring and of course ALWAYS right mum routine that she seems to constantly wheel out now - see Keeping Faith for peak Myles.
The mum with kids on the plane?I was hoping they'd be shot in the first episode - hijackers missed a trick there! .

Concept and writing's not bad, and Idris brings his usual less-is-more style to the proceedings.
But his character is supposed to be some super negotiator 4D-chess type. Yet his strategy was terrible, and the tactics for that terrible strategy were also terrible. The strategy is to regain control, and get in touch with the ground. So go for the cockpit, get the pilot, co-pilot, and stewardess in there and re-secure the door, and then head straight down to the nearest airport.
Even with the terrible strategy of taking out the bad guys one at a time, then start at the front and work backwards, don't try and limbo your way all the way down the plane without being spotted.

Struggling to suspend this much disbelief
That is almost always the issue these days. Between absurd scripts and no-boundaries CGI effects there is very little quality stuff produced now. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
