Gotta love the lopsided attack dog, she tore Liz a new one today.

She’s great in this role.

I wasn’t a fan of her as a roving reporter, I couldn’t take my eyes away from her mouth and how she talks.

To be honest I thought she let Truss talk over her way too much, though she did land some good blows here and there.

Truss utterly, utterly out of her depth.

I'm clutching at the life belt that is just out of my reach here and now hoping that whatever Truss' plan is, it is extremely clever and will surprise everyone.

She's like a.i .

They ask her a question then there's a delay and you can almost see a little blue light spinning as it selects the correct answer from it's data bank wink

I think as an interviewer Kuenssberg needs to get better at letting the person answer the question she's just asked before interrupting.

She isn't the only one to do it Andrew Marr is just as bad but it can be pretty irritating.

Sarah jane mee on sky was just as bad this morning .

It seems to be the new style just constantly attack , ironic really because with the current government they should just let them ramble and tie themselves up in knots.

ISWYM but isn't the interruption to try and get them back to the original question

Interviewer : So do you think it was sensible to increase public borrowing AND cut public spending whilst giving rich people tax cuts?

Truss : What I want to be perfectly clear about is that tomorrow is Monday and the Conservative party wants to ensure that Tuesday follows Monday.....

This 100 times over. I walked away from the TV this morning as the constant interruptions from Kuenssberg were bloody annoying. I am no Truss fan but at least let the interview flow. I feel the adversarial style gets less out of the interview than allowing the interviewee to dig their own holes. Which in Truss’s case I suspect could be fairly deep ones laugh

I do wonder why they even bother interviewing MPs as you never get an answer.

I used to work on The Marr show and I remember having the close up on Boris and being able to see the anger in his eyes and the gnashing of his teeth which he would magically turn off as soon as my red 'on air' light came on.

It's a fair point and it's hard to articulate but I just feel Kuenssberg and Marr in particular are quite bad at it.

With Kuenssberg maybe it's the shift from reporter to interviewer who knows but to me it's felt noticeable.

Marr still does it on LBC.

I agree with the earlier poster - she only did that when Truss was absolutely not answering the question.

Not the kind of show I'd usually watch but was really impressed by Keunssberg. I thought she asked very clear questions that were pretty much word for word what I wanted to ask. And even though the scripted response was the same as always (it's because Russia invaded Ukraine) at least she did get an admission that the mini budget could have been done better.

It's time that journalists accepted responsibility for their part, for the rubbish politicians we have today. In the last fifty years they have gone from sensible probing questions to attacking, gotcha-searching with constant interruptions.

Who with the right skills and any gumption would open themselves up to this?

Either, or both. I could disappoint them for a few minutes.

Oh, sorry. That wasn't the question was it?

Agree with the comments regarding interviewing style; it seems to increasingly be the norm these days.

However, Truss was utterly inept. Her robotic delivery coupled with the rabbit-in-the-headlights delay following a question - like she’s participating in an interview via satellite from the States - and the script-like response made for cringy viewing

Interviewer's egos being even bigger than politicians it's not surprising
Laura, like Marr, Paxo, Maitliss constantly interrupts if she's not hearing
the answer she wants.

It's messy telly, comes across as rude and hectoring, and with no time
restraint, totally unwarranted.

Plenty airtime to pose the question again.

Watch this masterful and educational example of how to conduct a political interview.

Then compare and contrast with the shameful likes of Peston / Koenigsegg / Sky bints etc.
