The Sandman (Netflix)
Discussion
I was never a huge Sandman comic fan, preferring Gaiman's novels and short stories. I have read a large chunk of the comic series, but although diverting, never found them to be as life-changing as some readers apparently do!
The TV series though, is spectacular! 4 episodes in and it is totally gripping - I am hooked!

Casting reaction probably depends on what your expectations are - some of it isn't great if your expectation is driven by other versions/the source material, but maybe not quite so bad when you don't know any of that. So I can see where Constantine is 'off', but other characters I think are fine because I don't know any different.
Only really glaring bad bit to me so far is Patton Oswalt, mainly because the voice work is so badly done and doesn't fit - sounds like he rattled it off in one afternoon in his echoing bathroom.

Lucienne feels like she’s practicing her lines.
Replacing John Constantine feels very weak and a definite mistake.
Everything else has been exceptional imho.
Morpheus is frighteningly accurate.
Death is excellent.
The score is a star in its own right.
Ep 6 is the highlight for me so far.

Not into the comics, or any actually, but friend in work who really is suggested this was because it's a licensing thing?Watched it all over the weekend and my first though was that it was a bit all over the place, but searched Youtube for the "stuff you didn't know" type videos and suddenly so much of why makes sense. When they explain how the episodes related to stories in the comics and what differences were there and so on.
Bit like the first season of The Witcher - once I went on to read the books, having never even played the games, then re-watch it, suddenly it became a whole lot more interesting. So I suspect as a Sandman fan you get a good deal more from it.

Yeah i think i heard that rumour about Constantine possibly. Feels like a bum note tho to me. The only bit I had a problem with so far was episode 5, which was an interesting thing in itself with the way it evolved but pacing wise felt like it brought the story to a shuddering halt.
Episode 6 though was great - the various visits by Death...
It’s testament to Gaiman’s writing that he can deliver such heavy blows with such grace. Episode 6 though was great - the various visits by Death...
