New trailer now out, starts in March and looks really good, also seems faithful to the source too.

The trailer looks good.

It doesn't appear that one can legitimately subscribe to Paramount+ in the UK though.... https://www.screenbinge.com/uk/channels/paramount-...

Cortana seems to have become a nun since the games wink

I am also not sure how faithful they are being based on that trailer.

The showrunners have left already.

There are rumours that a teenage girl is the lead, and Master Chief is an ancillary character.

Might be fluff, difficult to know what's legit these days, but it may go down the StarWars/He-Man/Loki route. My fave game was Halo Wars, so I'm not really invested in it, but I do like adherence to source material as a rule. I'll watch at least ep 1 to see. Although as I type this, it being a a Paramount programme, I'm not sure where it'll be available in the UK.

Was that Blomkamp's short... Shame it never got off the ground. His alien reboot too.

If it's youtube driven, they thrive off being negative, as that is what gets them views. Will have to see what the first couple of episodes are like, I can't see them being so dumb as to go down the same route as He-Man did.

One thing I did notice was that they haven't used the Halo music, which is a concern, as it's probably one of the most distinctive and well know scores ever made. Plus if they have a story where the Master Chief shows his face it will bomb with the fan base.

On a different note, anyone watched Peacemaker? I've heard it's really good, I'm guessing that will appear on Sky at some point? As for Halo, who knows? I do remember it being touted at one point as being available to watch on Xbox, though that might have been an old idea?

If I had to bet my tuppence, I'd say we'll see the face, with casting Pablo.

I'd love to see Peacemaker, maybe my most anticipated programme, I don't illegally download stuff, so I'm waiting for it to turn up on Sky.

Peacemaker is great fun and worth watching just for the dance during the opening titles smile

No idea. I was talking about the Chevy SUV. Beats a Warthog!

I would be surprised if that is the case.

What it might be, hypothetically, is more of the Witcher scenario where Geralt is supposedly our lead but often takes a back seat to other characters. This is to the detriment of that show as Geralt, with Henry Cavill playing him, is by far the best thing about it.

I could easily see halo having a similar issue. All the Halo fans switching on to see the Masterchief and too much time being spent on messaging or teen drama. I doubt very much though that he would ever be a minor character.

I am finding i hard to believe as well, but then I didn't believe the He-Man rumours either, or that they'd swap out Batman Beyond for Batgirl, or Superman for Superwoman.

I wouldn't say minor, but MC may not be the lead/protagonist, but there, alongside what drives the story.

Enjoyed that. Not on par with The Mandalorian but certainly enjoyable and great to see the MasterChief come alive on the screen.

First 20 minutes - quite decent.

Rest of it - starts to go off the rails pretty fast and really diverges from the existing lore/storyline.

Going from the reviews of ep2 it drops off even further.

Another massive waste of a beloved franchise and another case of modern writers trying to superimpose their viewpoints onto an existing popular property because if they tried to make something new out of them it would massively flop.

I concur. I’ll give it another episode just in case but I was rather disappointed with where it appears to be going. Then again, I’m not sure how you’d make an interesting series from the established lore.

I could understand them having to change a few things as the games are basically just tens of hours of non-stop combat, but there were also a series of pretty well written novels that did a really good job of dramatising the Halo Universe. Stories set before, during and after the original game and even the first one which more or less is a straight novelisation of 'Halo: Combat Evolved' is a pretty good 'future war' read - so you can turn out a good dramatisation with skilled writing and still be true to what we see in the games.

Between the games and the novels, the combined Halo lore is pretty extensive and could be an excellent base for screenplays.

I liked it, a good start, though it can easily go wrong. It looks like the teenage girl is a major character.

Oh, already renewed, as has Peacemaker.

What’s the level of violence like? Reviews seem to indicate it’s pretty violent, and it carries a TV-MA rating which is somewhere between a 15 and an 18. My 13 year old really wants to watch it, and I’m trying to decide if I need to watch it myself first and then watch it with him, or whether to risk it. Probably should watch it first.
No more violent than the games I'd say.
