Reacher - Prime Video
Discussion
Looking forward to this; finally a Reacher on the screen who's not a foot shorter and a hundred pounds lighter than written!

The actor playing Reacher here was excellent as Hawk in the surprisingly good “Titans” via Netflix. Has lots of charisma and presence. At least in that. It’s worth watching if you don’t hate the super hero gendre.
He's a really good comic actor. He's superb in blue Mountain high or whatever it's called. He plays Thad the dumb jock. Not sure I can see him doing brooding implied threat.

Have you seen the trailer?I didn't realise the trailer was in the Twitter link, but the direct Youtube link might be better for people who don't use Twitter.

The trailer looks great.
Yup. It looks like it could be excellent. Up until the last three outings I really enjoyed the books too. And despite going into them prepared to be disappointed I thought Tom Cruise did OK in the films. I just thought they made the wrong books into the movies. Nothing wrong with the films they made, I just felt other stories would have been a better showcase for the character's first on-screen outing. The shame for me is that it's on Amazon Prime. I'm not a huge fan of Amazon's apparent desire to take over the world one delivery at a time, but it's not that. I'm just at saturation point with subscription channels already. I don't watch that much TV and the more channels I pay for the poorer the value-for-money gets as my attention is divided between yet more channels. Although I'm going to keep my eye on this thread and look for reviews elsewhere. If it goes down well then I might be tempted into a Prime trial, get Reacher watched, then quickly cancel it.
Alan Ritchson certainly has the build to depict Reacher without having to resort to the camera trickery and careful shot selection which was necessary with Tom Cruise. And his delivery of those quips in the trailer comes close to how I imagine Jack Reacher would be from reading the books. Does anyone know if it's one book per season, split into episodes to allow more time to tell the story compared to a movie? Or will it move between books during the season? I know the books aren't exactly highbrow classic literature, but they deserve to be handled with respect, not dicked about with and abridged to squash them down into a TV series.

Apparently the first season covers Killing Floor, so it would be one book per season.
Cool!Killing Floor is one of the better books. I really enjoyed it. It's a good one to start with because it explains a lot about how Reacher comes to be the way he is. Looks like I'm going to have to try this Amazon Prime thing, at least until I've watched this series.

Yeah he's massive, but reacher in the books isn't described as a pretty boy / male model.
It does look fun though.
As someone who's read all the books, I think the films were very good. But as someone who's read all the books, the films were not Jack Reacher.
Alan Ritchson looks pretty much like how I imagine Reacher when reading the books (ok, maybe a little too "male model", but close enough). Trailer looks good, I am very much looking forward to this
