Stumbled across the back end of this last week and watched this week's episode. Properly, properly funny. NSFW in spades. The Sub Shop was so, so well done it was toe-curling smile

Guardian liked it too (but don't hold it against the prog)

I'm the only one, I guess. Poignant as well as funny. Worth a watch.

Nope, me too. Brilliant stuff, quite emotional too. She won a BAFTA for it. Worth watching her reaction. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CPRME6Cn55U/

Fantastic series, dealing with tough subjects through humour.

Siobhan Finneran is truly excellent in a great cast

I agree, a brilliant performance - those diatribes - I got the impression that they weren't completely scripted, either.

Alma's back, starting on Monday smile

Just in case there's someone who didn't see her brilliant BAFTA win response, here it is again (sorry about TT):

Myself and the missus finished season two last night and enjoyed it that much felt compelled to post.

We thought it was fantastic.
Laugh out loud funny whilst also quite poignant and at times really quite sad.

It’s really good TV. Well worth a watch

Another one that stumbled into this, my wife was watching it (second series) and I walked into the room, 2 mins later I was belly laughing.

I'm starting at the beginning now myself, it's got a bit of a Phoenix Nights vibe about it.

The toothless wigged Mum is properly funny.

It's semi-autobiographical, Sophie's already led a heck of a life.

Didn’t realise that, thanks for posting.

Pleased others are picking up on the show, it so deserves to be watched

Some of the best written and acted work in years. To go from spit your tea out laughter to want to cry alongside them in minutes, just brilliant and what a superb cast.

It reminds me of Nighty Night, also on iPlayer, with similar ‘very wrong’ humour. I’m enjoying it.

I tried this when it came out, but gave it up as I obviously didn't 'get' it. Thanks to this forum, I gave it another go. Binged the lot. Very entertaining, funny, sad, brilliantly acted piece of television. Really recommend it, and well deserved BAFTA. Do try it.
