That trailer does not fill me with hope .... Looks like a series of scenes pulled from the first 3 films.

Same.

The 'problem' I think, aside from the terrible sequels is that everything that made the original so cool, has become a cliché 20 years later. To make a great film, I think they would need to push things forward, show the world post-matrix, dark and broken and humanities attempts to rebuild it, but there's a lot less risk in making one of those half-sequel, half-reboot films when the original cast hands over to a new generation to play through pretty much the same story again.

Maybe I'm wrong, there's a shot of Neo taking a blue pill from a bottle of them, (I checked, it was the red one he took in the original) maybe it's not that simple.

I'm sure he was pretty dead, and not to mention scared and blind at the end of the first one. Carrie-Anne Moss was very dead, but she's in it too. Maybe Neo just walks out of the shower in the first scene like it never happened.

Yup. That's why the sequels disappointed me so much.

The ending of the original held so much promise as to how Neo could bend the Matrix to his will. That was entirely forgotten in the sequels.

The release date of the 22nd Dec seems an odd decision. Therefore the opening weekend is Christmas Day/Boxing day. Wouldn’t a release on the 15th or 16th be better? But I guess they know what they’re doing.

There was a reason it was called The Matrix.
As that should have been the one and only film, the rest were just poor in comparison.

Remember reading somewhere that the motorway chase scene cost as much as the full 1st film.

I watched all 3 last week in 4K and did enjoy them though.

I thought I was watching a fan made trailer made up from previous Matrix/Reeves films.

I was obsessed with The Matrix when I was younger. The first one was so different to anything else I'd seen at the time. Then there was the Animatrix which helped answer some of the bits in the 2nd and the 3rd was OK but watching now it doesn't hold up that well.

I don't have high hopes for it as the writers aren't as good as they used to be. Bit of Cyberpunk feel to it too and that was crap. Really it should've stayed with just the original. If I keep expectations low I won't be as disappointed.

Eating a bit of humble pie here, but the trailer does look slightly more interesting.

Oh hell yes...so long as the Xmen/Mavel/DC/ Disney lot don't sneak in there...although Bugs Bunny being the chased rabbit and when cornered saying "what's up doc!?" with Theo catching his reflection and seeing himself as Elmer J. Fudd has a certain charm to it...or I may be struggling today with a lack of sleep.

i know its just a first trailer, but im not that stoked with it tbh, i dont see anything thats amazingly fresh or new like the original, it looks like a hastily rehashed\reboot of the first one, with bits of the other 2,
and whats up with low rent morpheus, confused,
wheres fishburne, and weaving
