Following on from a post on the Bangers & Cash thread I thought I’d start one for this series(if only to remind me of it).
https://corporate.uktv.co.uk/news/article/yesterda...
Starts March 30th.
Thanks to thegreenhell for the link.
ETA it’s about Brooklands and not the London Transport Museum

That looks interesting, one of my favourites places and such a broad range of great stories and exhibits

I started last year as a trainee volunteer but that’s been on hold. It’s reopening in May.

Thanks for the heads up, I'd seen the show title in the listings but assumed it was about the London Transport Museum so would be all about buses and trains etc.

Yes, I can understand the confusion. It could’ve been worded better.

Thanks, I will look out for this. I'd better check my Sky programme guide to set it to record.

You may know by know that the Series is due to air at 8pm 30 March on The Yesterday Channel. The series covers all aspects of Brooklands. Members of the motorcycle team are featured working on and riding bikes. The highlight for me will be seeing fellow Team member Perry riding his recreation of Freddy Clarke's record breaking Brooklands Special Triumph T80 on the Milbrook proving circuit. The production team got hold of the rigs that Top Gear use to produce a spectacular piece of film.

A lot of drama over a flat tyre laugh
Good programme though.

How dumbed down have they made this! Even my wife is getting annoyed.

Unfortunately they've put the 'false jeopardy' in: 'If the tyre goes flat the wings may break.' 'If the float chamber floods the car might catch fire!' etc. And, the Midget racing crash footage was in the States not at Brooklands. Shame they couldn't have just made an enjoyable program like Bangers & Cash. confused

I have to agree with all of the above. Not as good as I'd hoped but I suppose better than no programme at all.I was shocked to see what appeared to be a Spartan kit car taking part in an open day.

Echo the above comments unfortunately
Fell asleep and had to rewind.
The posh lady from the office, God help us.
The only interesting bit was the Frazer Nash chain mechanism.
The faffing on with the Harrier tyre, and the "Brooklands" exhaust was mind numbing.
This was no B&C, there's some real interesting vehicles and characters in that programme
Assuming Episode 1 is a showcase for future episodes, I may remove series link.

What an awfully banal hour about a historic place which deserves more grown-up treatment than that.

And who had priorities for what went into this first (and hopefully last ....) programme ?. Nothing about the Napier-Railton, nothing about Concorde, nothing about the Wellington bomber - but far too much about a flat tyre on the Harrier and about a floppy drive chain ....

Only 1 out of 10 from me, I'm afraid- and, yes, I been involved in making similar programmes for other outlets in the past. Most of them could have done better with a cheap video cam and a wife/girlfriend holding the audio microphone ....

Brooklands deserves much more attention than it gets and I suppose any TV exposure can only be good for its visitor numbers. I found this a fairly easy watch and the volunteers came over well, but the clips with the director driving "Daisy" were cringeworthy. Hopefully, later episodes will cover the more iconic exhibits and showcase Brooklands much more thoroughly.

Pretty much echo the criticism already voiced and potentially interesting subjects wasted. The background music was annoying and imgo completely unnecessary. I hope next week improves. I wonder if the barometric chamber will get a mention. That’s a fascinating part of the museum.

I thought it was OK. Found it quite interesting. I always enjoy a visit to Brooklands and hope to get back there again later this year.

Wow, what a waste of half an hour of my time. Such a shame that it's gone the lowest common denominator route.
