Frasier is Back
Discussion
Dr. Frasier Crane is still listening. Paramount Plus is about to start filming a new series of the good doctor. Kelsey Grammer will, of course, be reviving the starring role.
However, none of the other previous actors (David Hyde Pierce - Niles, Jane Leeves - Daphne, Peri Gilpin - Roz) will be involved this time. John Mahoney - Martin, died a few years ago.

Great news as I loved Frasier.
However, like all these great shows in the past, they develop surrounding characters who then become central e.g. Niles, Dafney, Martin, Bulldog, etc. These characters all become main characters. It's the same with Big Bang, Friends, and more.
Spin off shows that transition only one character don't usual work as you realise these need to be surrounded by other characters to work. Friends > Joey. Bing Bang > Young Sheldon. Personally I don't think these worked, infact it's only Cheers > Frasier that ever worked.
Another issue you have is that the older shows of Frasier are sit being aired. These episodes had bigger budgets, better writers, more writers and everyone looked so much younger and the comedy was fresh. You watch the newer shows and in the past these just dont hit the spot anymore, or they feel played out. Its not like a whole new show where you give it time to settle in, develop. These continuations need to hit the ground running.
Regardless, I look forward to it and hope it works.

He was supposed to be moving to San Francisco for a job in the last show, but the pilot announced ‘Welcome to Chicago’.
That's because there was a dilemma between the new job and the new girlfriend. The job was in San Francisco and the girlfriend was in Chicago.Anecdotally, Grammar was a PITA to work with, due to drink/drugs, so it's possible the other cast will suddenly find they're too busy.
Cheers was a great series. I visited the bar that they rebuilt in a glass building in Boston town centre and sat in Norms seat. Also went into the actual pub that features as the outside of Cheers bar, which is called the Bull and Finch, the inside of which is different entirely and never featured in the TV programme.

Elderly Frasier who's turned into Seattle's version of Victor Meldrew moves into a private care home for retired entertainment industry people. He expects to be waited on hand and foot but instead meets lots of over the top characters and finds himself in many awkward situations. Hilarity ensues.
I thought Cheers was the best American sitcom of the ‘80s, and Frasier the best of the ’90s. But I don’t think it would work if they tried to revive the same show.
Don’t reprise the pompous local c-list celebrity. Instead, show him as a man whose best days are behind him. Dealing with the loneliness of never having settled down. Perhaps failing health, and bitter that his carefully curated life hasn’t turned out as planned.
Kelsey Grammer is a good enough actor to do this and find the comedy/pathos in the role.
It would also need very good writers.
