Anybody watching this?
It's a series about new Graduates working for an imaginary Investment Bank....I was just wondering how realistic it was. My nephew who works in IB tells me bits of it are but other bits don't make sense to him. According to him "It's about an Investment Bank but they're focussing on trading desks" and "S&T roles aren't that heavy hours-wise"
Currently about 3 episodes in and I quite like it. I would have enjoyed them perhaps explaining what the grads and others are doing, a lot of it is just jargon and the amount of sex just seems gratuitous and voyeuristic (in Mrs Countdown's opinion)

The bullying and swearing (and sex) is extremely exaggerated.
The actual work environment and how sales interact with clients and traders is reasonably well portrayed, but in reality it is a lot more mundane especially for a Grad - no way a Grad would be allowed to pitch to a client and take orders only a few weeks into the job.

I’ve watched one episode so far.
Some bits seem spot on; some bits are nonsense. For example, Harper Stern would never have been interviewed for a grad role at a “bulge bracket” bank - if you don’t have a good degree from a top university, you would have been rejected outright. And the follow up about her degree certificate is unlikely - for my last new job in the City, they did a lot more in the way of background checks than just asking for a copy of my degree certificate.

Enjoyed it but found it very odd! Some of the content would make the most avid viewers of late night channel 5 movies from 20 yrs ago blush.
Working in a different high pressure industry in a large corporation there is a lot of behaviour I recognise which was portrayed well I think, from privately educated entitled types who walk into such jobs and demand progression before making any meaningful contribution, to the chips on the shoulders of those from more humble backgrounds, and everyone in between.
Knowing we have several finance people on PH it would be interesting to hear their take on it, if they can fit it in between working themselves to death, non stop shagging and intravenous drug use, obviously.

Also - is £3k per month normal for a flatshare in Notting Hill?
I think the idea of that scene was to illustrate that Yasmin has little concept of money or value, while Harper is too tired of looking for a flat share (and earning too much) to care. I wasn’t too sure about the series after the first episode but I’m up to ep.6 now and really enjoying it as the intrigue has built. I hope it’s been a success as I think there’s another series in it, although maybe in a couple of years’ time to give some of the characters a chance to work up to being associates.

It's a drama, with magnificent tits.
Have you considered doing voiceover/programme trailers for the BBC? I just watched Episode 4 "Sesh"
1. At the risk of sounding like a fuddy-duddy do young professional people really stay up all night doing Coke and Ketamine?
2. is it normal for a trade to move from a £50k loss to a £50k profit to a £140k loss in the space of 30 seconds?
I'm guessing both of the above are exaggerated for the purposes of entertainment, I'm just curious as to how much exaggeration...

Not sen it. But it sounds like its just like
"This life"
But written 20 years later
That was my first thought, but it's focussed more on Investment Banking and less in their personal lives."This life"
But written 20 years later
IIRC "This Life" didn't actually look at lawyering that much and far more on shagging.
